Citlali Grey is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Wesley Rosenberg) of the 2016 video game Sally Face. She was one of the original founders and one of the Council members of the supernatural cult The Devourers of God, as well as the ancestor of Kenneth Phelps. While largely a minor character, Citlali's past events played a significant role in the founding of the cult and the events that later would soon follow.
Despite being dead for a long time, Citlali's prophesy of the "Child of the Abomination" who would thwart the cult's hegemonic plans, which later turned out to be Sal Fisher, later played a major role in the contemporary events of the game, including Sal's attempted murder and Diane's murder by Kenneth, Sal's false execution and later the complete destruction of the Cult at the hands of a ghost Sal, ghost Larry, and later Ashley Campbell.
Appearance[]
Not much is known about Citlali's physical appearance, as she never made a physical appearance in the game, including flashbacks.
Personality[]
As seen within Todd Morrison's notes in The Trial, it is assumed that Citlali is loyal to the cause of the Devourers, given her history as one of the founders and its council member. Other than that, nothing much is known of her complete personality.
Biography[]
Past[]
There are many unknowns about Citlali's life, including her ancestry. She may, however, be a descendant of the woman who was the tribe's progenitor if the myth surrounding the tribe's origins is true, as suggested by her precognitive skills.
The Devourers of God were formed in 1663 when Citlali used a prophesy to gather some of the tribe's members together. When colonists from an unknown country arrived in Nockfell, the religion spread because of a ceremonial marriage between Citlali and colonist Wesley Rosenberg.
The Devourers were forewarned in Citlali's last prophesy about the Child of the Abomination, the one who would oppose them, and his resurrection by Asintmah, a group of three mysterious pyramids.
Legacy[]
Citlali's prophesy, two centuries later, would soon come to fruition when Sal Fisher was almost killed by Kenneth Phelps, disguised as a "dog", in 16th of August 1984. However, Sal's mother Diane Fisher would give her life and protect him, killing her with a gunshot wound and temporarily averting a part of Citlali's prophecy, leaving the cult in hiding until Sal and Henry would move to Addison Apartments in 1992, triggering the events of the game.
Trivia[]
- Her name, Citlali, means "star" in Native American language.
