Clarence Polkawitz is a major character in the adult comedy series Final Space. He was a con artist and the adoptive father of Ash Graven and Fox.
He was voiced by Conan O'Brien who also voiced The Riddler in The Lego Batman Movie
History[]
Backstory[]
Clarence's backstory is not explored much, but from what we know, he had a cousin named Dartrichio, and they didn't develop a good relationship with her from what we see. He would later become a con artist and adopt Fox, presumably during the war between the Trivulians and the Ventraxians,. He would also adopt Ash Graven after he saw her killing several members of Serepentis trying to catch her with her powers, presumably for the use he would get from Ash's powers. It's also mentioned that Avocato saved his life once and became business partners after that.
Season 1[]
Clarence first appears when Avocato goes to his shop so he and Gary could buy papers to hide themselves from the Lord Commander, although Clarence initialy refused, after Avocato threatned him and reminded him that he saved his life once, he accepts giving Gary and Avocato papers and even gave Gary skin from a dead being, who was later revealed to be Melany Dewinter. He would later briefly appear while Gary and Avocato were escaping from the Lord Commander's Army, telling them that he wanted the skin back.
Season 2[]
Clarence had Little Cato into his cleaning boy after the Team Squad's final battle against the Lord Commander and his army. After this he would enslave Gary and H.U.E. and forced them to go on a death race named the Toro Regata to get a valuable item, which was later revealed to be one of the Dimensional Keys, the thing that can bring the Titan Bolo out of his imprisonment in Space.
Clarence would break his deal with Gary by still having them work with him, causing the entire group to have disdain towards him. After they have a urine fight to decide who was the one to claim the Crimson Light, they are captured by a group of aliens who's boss was Todd H. Watson, Clarence would then take an oportunity to try to take over the place by faking being it's owner, although he failed to do so as he was forced to escape after Todd tried to kill the Team Squad.
Clarence would also help the Team Squad get the dimensional key from Werthrent in Serepentis and after they were celebrating getting it, Clarence tried to stop them. He would later also develop sexual desires towards Gary's mother Sheryl Goodspeed, asking her what would happen to her corpse after she was killed and clearly trying to convince her to have sex with him before finding out she left, she also helped her and Gary get a tresure for her, which was later revealed to be a Dimensional Key.
After an attempt to steal a queen's values, he would start to develop a weaker relationship with Fox and Ash, so he decided to contact Sheryl so he could give her the dimensional keys in return for her love. He then manipulates the Team Squad to go to a strip club while he tried to steal the keys, but he is caught by Fox while doing the act, and he threatned to kill him with his hand gun if he didn't drop the keys, despite this, Fox was reluctant to shoot his father, which causes Clarence to eletrocute Fox, severely injuring him and nearly killing him as a result, after this, an injured Fox contacts the rest of the Team Squad and informs them of Clarance's betrayal, so Gary, Nightfall and Little Cato go after him, but they fail to do so and Clarence gives Sheryl the keys. However, Sheryl leaves him behind, and when Clarence begs her not to leave him, Sheryl replies that he brought his misery onto himself and that he would never be with a guy like him. After this, the Team Squad catch him and ask him where Sheryl was going, which he aswers and then asks them to bring him back, but they refuse, leaving Clarence alone.
Season 3[]
The Team Squad contacts Clarence so they could be able to escape from Final Space, which we then see that he was in his former shop alone with his robot. Ash then informs Clarence that Fox died during the time they were in Final Space, causing him to have a small breakdown, but he then promises Ash that he will help them, while also giving his robot his shop and everything he owned, saying that it was just stuff.
Clarence then goes to a planet to activate the Hiper Transdimensional Bridge, but faces Todd H. Watson and all the people that were against him, after most were either killed or defeated, Clarence tries to activate the Hiper Transdimensional Bridge, but Todd tries to stop him. Clarence would tell him that his revenge would give him nothing and it wouldn't stop the pain he had inside, but Todd refuses to listen and kills Clarence, but the latter is able to activate the Hiper Transdimensional Bridge, and then dies while watchinga video of him, Ash and Fox. He would later be forgiven at the hands of the Team Squad due to his sacrifice.
Trivia[]
- Clarence is bisexual as revealed by Olan Rogers on Reddit. His sexuality was indicated by his conversation with Catoloupe in the episode "The Arachnitects", which has them call each other pet names such as “whiskers” and ”Mr. Naughty”. This suggests that Clarence And Catoloupe used to be in a same sex relationship at some point.
- In "The Grand Surrender", he is shown bleeding magenta when his fingers get shot off by Nightfall, but in "Hyper-Transdimensional Bridge Rising, he bleeds purple blood when Todd shoots him to death.
- Clarence has the ability to quickly heal and even regenerate lost body parts. In "The Grand Surrender", he lost some fingers during a game of Thimbles, but they instantly grew back.
- Judging by conversations between him and his kids in "The Lost Spy", Clarence has already accidentally killed several women he married, or tried to hide in their corpses to escape punishment.
