Background[]
In the original film, Claude's character goes to the Middle East with his wife, Clara. Unbeknownst to Clara, Claude plots to kill her with a henchman who works in the hotel. He tries but fails on numerous occasions to kill her, such as by poisoning her drink or by releasing a scorpion. Ultimately, he resorts to almost pushing her off a balcony.
However, Claude's plans are foiled by the film's male lead, Jack, who incapacitates Claude and has him arrested.
Black Mirror[]
When an artificial-intelligence company decides to cast Brittany Friday in a reworked version of the original, Friday finds herself in an AI-generated world of the film. Whilst there, Brittany accidentally interferes with the normal run of the film, which results in the plot completely destabilising. Claude continues to try kill Clara, which instead results in Clara being shot instead of Brittany.
