| NOTE: For the sake of this wiki, this page is mainly about Claude's most antagonistic roles in other routes aside of Verdant Wind, Silver Snow, Azure Moon and Golden Wildfire. |
Prince Khalid, better known as Claude von Riegan, is one of the three deuteragonists (alongside Edelgard von Hresvelg and Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd) within the Fódlan Saga of Nintendo's Fire Emblem franchise.
He is the heir to the noble family who leads the Leicester Alliance and the house leader of the Golden Deer, known for his easygoing and laid-back nature, but is a cunning and tactical genius with grand ambitions for Fódlan.
Should the player chooses to support him and the Golden Deers House, he will serve as the main protagonist of the Verdant Wind route in Three Houses and the Golden Wildfire route in Three Hopes. If not, he will serve as a major character for the other routes in both games.
However, if the player chooses to side with the Black Eagles, Claude will become a major antagonist for the Crimson Flower route in Three Houses and the Scarlet Blaze route in Three Hopes.
He is voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga in the Japanese version, and by Joe Zieja in the English version.
Appearance[]
Claude has brown breaded hair, a matching brown beard (after the Time Skip in Three Houses) and green eyes.
During the Academy Phase, Claude wears a black shirt, matching pants, a yellow cape and a pair of black boots. His clothes have golden highlights.
During the War Phase, he wears a new outfit. In Three Houses, he wears beige clothes, a pair of black boots, a golden shoulder pad, a yellow and black cape and a matching belt. In Three Hopes, his War Phase outfit includes a black and yellow outfit, a matching cape, bronze chestplate and ring, white gloves, yellow boots and a red belt.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes[]
Claude first appears alongside Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd and Edelgard von Hresvelg in Chapter 1, where they are hunted down by the Iron King Thieves and are saved by the player character Shez. The latter is "pushed" to become a student at Garreg Mach Monastery's Officers Academy to become stronger (and to cover the fact that the heirs of Fodlan's three countries were almost killed by a bunch of thieves). In Chapter 2, Shez and their class save Monica a student who was captured by a mysterious group known as Those Who Slither in the Dark. After Shez defeats the TWSITD general Kronya and Monica reveals that another general named Solon has captured her after replacing the academy's librarian, two leading figures of the organization, Thales and Cleobulus, fight Edelgard and Dimitri, while Claude fights his older brother Shahid, who leads an attack of the Almyrian Army on Fodlan. Dimitri, Edelgard and Claude defeat their respective foes and become the new leaders of their respective nations.
Two years later, Edelgard declares war to the Church of Seiros and takes over Garrreg Mach Monastery, which is the base of the Church's leader, Archbishop Rhea. Edelgard also makes a deal with two lords of the Leicester Alliance, Acheron Lethe Phlegethon and Count Erwin Fritz Gloucester, to gain access to Leicester's border, much to Claude's anger. A war between the Adrestian Empire led by Edelgard, the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus led by Dimitri and the Leicester Alliance led by Claude begins shortly thereafter, with Count Leopold von Bergliez, the Empire's Minister of Military Affairs, acting as the leader of the invasion of Leicester.
Claude acts as one of the main antagonists for the first half of the Scarlet Blaze route. In Chapter 6, the imperial army learns that Erwin, his son Lorenz, Acheron and their troops have blocked Leopold's forces. Their defection was nothing but a ruse and they are now defending the Great Bridge or Myrddin and Gloucester territories. The fake defection was all part of Claude's plan. However, Edelgard leads the imperial army to take the bridge, kills Acheron and defeats House Gloucester, forcing Erwin to step down as Count Gloucester and to name Lorenz as his successor. Lorenz then sides with the Empire.
Claude returns in Scarlet Blaze Chapter 7 as the enemy commander, reuniting most of the remaining members of the Golden Deers (Hilda, Raphael, Marianne and Lysithea) and the Jeralt's Mercenaries (Jeralt, Alois and Byleth) to stop Count Leopold von Bergliez once and for all. Claude oversees a siege to destroy Count Bergliez and his troops and defends Derdriu, the Leicester Alliance's capital. Claude prevents the imperial army from sending food to Bergliez's men and manages to overwhelm him with Byleth's help. However, Edelgard and her forces save Bergliez's troops, defeat or kill all the generals and leave only Claude and Byleth. The duo is defeated, but Sothis prevents Shez from finishing off Byleth at the last minute. Claude loses the battle (and the war) and feels guilty in front of the innocents who died for his cause.
For most of Part 2 Claude, acts as a supporting character. He decides to side with Edelgard and spends most of the route's second half as a major ally. However, in the bad ending, Byleth preys on Claude's ambitions and convinces him to betray Edelgard during a major battle against both the forces of the Kingdom and the Church. However, Claude and the Alliance are defeated and he either dies or flees the battlefield.

Trivia[]
- While Dimitri and Edelgard become more heroic in Three Hopes, Claude becomes more villainous, to the point where he betrays his own allies.
