Cliff LeGrand is the main antagonist of the 2022 television series Poker Face.
He is the head of security at Frost Casino in Nevada, before becoming a killer and hunting Charlie Cale across the United States, per casino owner Sterling Frost Sr.'s order.
He was portrayed by Benjamin Bratt who also played Ernesto de la Cruz in Coco and El Macho in Despicable Me 2. [1]
Biography[]
Cliff LeGrand was the head of security at Frost Casino, owned by Sterling Frost Sr. in Nevada, and run by Sterling Frost Jr. Cliff has loyally worked for the Frost family since Senior managed the casino and hotel, before he handed it down to Sterling Jr.
During routine housekeeping, employee Natalie Hill started to work on the room currently housing influential roller Kazimir Caine. Natalie came across illegal items on the laptop of Caine and took pictures of it to show her boss, Frost Jr. Not willing to lose a high roller, Frost decides to have Cliff kill Natalie and her abusive husband Jerry. Frost deletes the pictures of Caine's laptop from Natalie's phone and sends her home. Cliff goes to her home and shoots her husband Jerry, who had drunkenly showed up to the casino earlier that day, shouting for his wife and holding his pistol, which Cliff took from him while throwing him out. Cliff then shot Natalie as she walked through the door of her home, and set up what looked to be a murder-suicide.
A few days later, Charlie Cale, an employee at Frost Casino and a close friend of Natalie's investigates her friend's death, refusing to believe it was an open and shut murder-suicide. At the same time, Charlie is enlisted by Frost to help him cheat a private poker game that Kazimir Caine had set up, utilizing her ability to tell when people are lying. Later Charlie discovers that Frost had Cliff kill both Natalie and Jerry to protect high rolling Caine, who means a great deal to the Frost Casino. After uncovering the details of the crime, Charlie realizes that thwarting Frost's plan to cheat the game would mean a lot more than just arresting him. As Frost prepares for the game, he realizes that Charlie already tipped Caine off about Frost's plan to steal from him. Cliff and Frost run up to the presidential suite Caine was staying in, only to realize he has left and has had the casino blackballed. Frost grows even more petrified when his father, Sterling Frost Sr. calls him, enraged over his son's foolish actions. Cliff then taunts the foolish Junior for his mistake, before Frost throws himself off the balcony of Caine's suite. An enraged Cliff fires at Charlie and hits her, but she manages to escape and flee. Senior wants revenge against Charlie, so he has Cliff chase her across the country to capture her and bring her back to him.
A year has passed, and Cliff has grown bitter with his boss over the mission he's sent him on. But when he finally catches Charlie in a Colorado hospital, he brings her to Atlantic City, New Jersey to meet with Frost Senior. However, Cliff intends on killing Frost Senior for Frost's criminal rival, Beatrix Hasp. So as Charlie meets with Frost, he reveals that he is no longer out for blood and will not kill Charlie and instead wants her to work for him. Cliff, now even more upset, tricks Charlie into holding a weapon while he cuts the lights and shoots Senior to death. Now having Charlie framed for the crime, Cliff gets what he wants from the Hasp family and buys a boat to finally retire on. Charlie eventually clears her name and catches up to the real killer of Frost Senior. As she confronts Cliff on his boat. Charlie is finally able to pin the crime back on Cliff, where he is promptly arrested and taken to prison.
Personality[]
Cliff is a no-nonsense business oriented henchman. Despite being loyal to the Frost family for years, he does betray them by killing Sterling Frost Senior for the rival Hasp crime family.
