Clinton Barnes, more commonly known as Clint, is a supporting antagonist in Telltale Games' The Walking Dead: A New Frontier. He is one of The New Frontier's four leaders, alongside Joan, David García and Paul Lingard.
He is voiced by Andrew Heyl.
Personality[]
Clint is generally an affable and protective leader who wants Richmond safe. Although he doesn't want to use violence, he is willing to use it to keep things in place, such as hanging David whom he accuses of treason or kicking Javier out of the community after he killed members of their group. Also, despite being shocked that Joan is secretly organizing raids on other colonies, Clint does nothing to stop this, seeming to think it's the right thing to do. He always ends up siding with Joan despite what she has done and supports her in her decisions, which ultimately leads to his determinant death at the hands of David.
However, Clint is also fairly bitter, and petty. He was quick to turn on Javi and have him thrown out of Richmond, not showing any sympathy or compassion, even telling his subordinates to give him a supply pack with bare minimum to survive out there, which was policy and not out of his own generosity, and he had no qualms of having Javi thrown out even if it was only for accidentally stealing gas that belonged to them, even though Javi had no knowledge of its owners and would've given it back. Furthermore, he also continues to support Joan and betray his own principle and ethics, knowing she was behind the massacre of civilians and pilagged communities under her orders, and at no point does he attempt to stand up to her and have her thrown our of Richmond, even having a barely emotional "Joan... How could you?" When he finds out the truth.
Biography[]
Clint first appears in the church alongside Joan as Javier joins them. He can choose between eating Clint's spinach or Joan's cake and Clint is disappointed if he chooses the cake. During the interrogation and Max's arrival, Javi can reveal to the leaders what Max has done or keep quiet as David wanted. But no matter what he says, he gets kicked out of the community by Clint and Joan.
Clint is seen later when Javi and David accuse the council of raiding other innocent settlements and Joan admits she's responsible, much to Clint's shock. Despite this revelation, he was masterly manipulated by Joan who has him to foolishly think it’s the right thing despite that she is killing innocent people to stay in power. It is then either a shooting or unjustified imprisonment, Javi and David are put in cell by the council.
In the following episode, Clint comes to get David informing that Joan has a plan and we learn later that she decides to hang David for treason against the New Frontier. During the speech and the presentation of corpses of members of the community, Clint is uncomfortable but says nothing. After Ava/Tripp is killed by Joan's execution, Clint finally sees that Joan really is a cold blooded monster, but instead tries to find a peaceful solution that involves kicking Javi, David and their group out of Richmond and never come back again. If Javi agrees, Clint frees David who quickly takes him hostage and threatens to kill him and Joan, causing widespread panic. Clint then gets free and Gabe intervenes by distracting Clint who is shot in the head by David. However, if Javi refuses the deal and kills Joan, the whole crowd will freak out and panic and Clint will try to run away. David then goes after him and it is unknown what happened to Clint after that and if he is still alive. If so, he presumably didn't stay in Richmond as he is not seen among the residents at the end of the episode and most likely not a leader in Richmond anymore after both his and Joan’s foolish actions.
