The Cloud Creatures were a strange race of evil-minded entities from DC comics that debuted in 1960 and acted as enemies of the popular speedster, Flash.

History

The Cloud Creatures were a malicious species of strange non-corporeal entities that lived under the Earth's surface and spent most of their time planning ways to invade the surface world.

A group of such creatures was discovered by an unwary scientist in Lassen Volcanic National Park and soon they manifested on the surface via volcanic eruptions and began to attack via violent lightning and thunder storms.

This group of Cloud Creatures was eventually stopped by Flash, who was able to exploit their one weakness - a strange nucleus that when struck would turn them into harmless rain cloud (presumably by destroying the evil creature that had possessed them).

It is unknown if any other Cloud Creatures exist beyond the few that Flash defeated and no further confrontations with these creatures has occured since.

Appearance

The Cloud Creatures technically do not have an "appearance" as they existed in a non-corporeal state but when manifesting in the surface world they appeared as clouds with vaguely human-like faces.

Abilities

The Cloud Creatures displayed a number of superhuman abilities, most notably they could exist deep under the Earth for centuries in a non-corporeal state and surface in order to attack, when manifesting in the surface world they became cloud-like in appearance and could manipulate the weather.

They had sufficient strength to topple buildings with their thunder.

Trivia

  • the Cloud Creatures are an example of a "hidden species", a common trope in comic books that explores non-human species that inhabit remote regions of Earth rather than alien or magical invaders.
