Biography[]
Battlefield 1[]
Clyde is first seen playing cards with George Rackham, a pilot. George and Clyde bet over George's plane. Clyde ends up losing, but before the game started Clyde tied George's left leg to his chair, making him unable to escape. Clyde then takes off with Rackham's plane and leaves him behind.
Clyde starts to pose as Rackham, he meets a man named Wilson, the gunner of the plane. Wilson raises suspicion against Clyde stating that he thought Rackham was British and not American, but he brushes it off and falls for the disguise. Clyde tries to create small talk between Wilson but Wilson urges Clyde to focus on flying. They do some basic training exercises until they encounter some German planes, Clyde and Wilson start to engage the planes. Clyde manages to destroy two planes, one tries to escape but Clyde decides to go after it, Wilson and Clyde fly through the clouds and stumble upon a German air base. Wilson takes photos of the fortress. Once at HQ, Wilson is paranoid about showing the photos to the commanding officer since they weren't supposed to be there. Clyde reassures Wilson and promises to "get him back in one piece." When Wilson speaks to the commanding officer, Clyde eavesdrops and hears the commander calling him one hell of a pilot.
Later in the following weeks, Clyde and Wilson are assigned to guard and escort bombers to destroy the German fortress, Clyde and Wilson manage to destroy many AA guns, barrage blimps, and fighter planes. The bombers succeed in destroying the fortress, but Clyde's plane is hit and starts to lose control. They end up crashing, leaving the two in enemy territory.
A few hours after the crash, Clyde wakes up hanging from a tree. He frees himself and sneaks past many Germans. He remarks on how good he is at sneaking by people and convinces himself that Wilson is dead. Once he escaped certain death, he visits the crash site and finds Wilson impaled. Unsure of what to do, Clyde tries to leave Wilson but he begs him to save him, Reminding him that he promised to keep him safe. Clyde then makes a hard choice and grabs a wooden plank to put Wilson out of his misery, Clyde stops when he figures out Wilson has figured out his real identity. After calling him a "no good lying son-of-a-bitch," Clyde picks up Wilson and carries him through No Man's Land. Once they reach the allies, Clyde has a moment of reflection and remarks on how Wilson called him a "no good lying son-of-a-bitch," Clyde understands that he hates himself more than he hates others and that he is a horrible person.
While resting inside a tent, Clyde is approached by George Rackham. Rackham puts Clyde under arrest and has him be tried in the martial court of law. He gets sent to London, England. Weeks later Clyde is on a dreadnought handcuffed, he is approached by Wilson who is healed from his injuries. Wilson tells Clyde that he'll defend him in court but Clyde refuses the offer. All of a sudden a squad of German planes flies over them. Rackham comes out and orders the men to get ready to fight, Clyde tells Rackham he can help but Rackham refuses and says he doesn't deserve to fly. After this Rackham is killed by one of the planes, Clyde then tells Wilson to uncuff him and get on a plane. The two take off and destroy many German planes, this is until two German zeppelins come to bomb London, Clyde, Wilson and other fighters begin opening fire on the zeppelins. Clyde's plane is damaged by an AA gun on one of the zeppelins. Clyde comes up with a plane to take over one of the AA guns, Clyde intentionally crashes into the zeppelin. He and Wilson then traverse across the zeppelin but a plane comes and crashes into it, separating Wilson and Clyde. Clyde then fights his way through the inside of the zeppelin and reaches the AA gun. He kills the German operating it and starts firing on the second zeppelin, while using it a German comes out and tries to punch Clyde, but Wilson comes and engages in a fist fight with the German. Wilson starts to overpower the German while Clyde keeps firing. The second zeppelin catches fire and starts to head toward the zeppelin Clyde is on, Clyde, Wilson, and the German look in horror as the two zeppelins get caught in a mid-air collision. The three men jump off the zeppelin before it can collide. Clyde survives the ordeal and climbs out of the water. He narrates how he saved Wilson and how he "saved himself." He also says other versions of his story, like how he was a rogue pilot who killed his partner and killed many Germans and how he escaped martial law in the chaos of an air raid. He then breaks the fourth wall and tells the player to believe none of that saying that he wouldn't be lying in the first place before asking "Wouldn't I?" His story then ends.
