Coach Rex is a villain in the Goosebumps franchise. He is the main villain of Escape From Camp Run-For-Your-Life, the 19th book in the gamebook series, Give Yourself Goosebumps.
Appearance[]
Coach Rex has a crew cut. He wears a white shirt and a whistle around his next.
Personality[]
Coach Rex is a sadist who seems to like causing kids pain. He willingly sends the winner to Xentron to serve the Overmaster, knowing that death awaits them. He is also shown to be a bit of a coward, expressing fear of being punished if he fails his mission.
Biography[]
Nothing about Coach Rex's past is ever revealed. It is unknown how he met with the Xentronians or how he teamed up with them.
Escape from Camp Run-For-Your-Life[]
Coach Rex first appears when the reader is dropped off by their Uncle Ed at Camp Running Leaf. Despite his initially friendly demeanor, he starts showing his true colors when he beats you in an arm-wrestling contest. He threatens that the reader will have what it takes.
During camp, Rex and his accomplices feed the campers blue eggs to make them more obedient. The campers partake in many games that often end with some being killed or seriously injured. This is training for a life of slavery on Xentron, while the winner serves the Overmaster, an "honor" that involves pain and eventually death. He also has a transporter to sends campers to Xentron. Rex pays people to abduct children for him, and has a government agent in the campground murdered and her body thrown into a lake.
