~ The corporation's motto.
Society doesn't just happen. The people NEED to be protected. If the only way to prevent future attacks is to monitor the thoughts and desires of the population, then the choice is obvious. We need to know who our enemies are and what they are planning! That is how we save lives!
~ Sebastian Krueger to Jacob Hendricks.

Coalescence Corporation is global defense and advanced technology company in the 2015 video game Call of Duty: Black Ops III and V.E.R.S.I.O.N. The corporation are one of the world's largest defense contracts, developing industrial robotic solutions and other technology. It's later revealed that Coalescence committed illegal black ops activities on human test subjects, and indirectly caused the Singapore disaster.

Biography[]

Creation[]

The Coalescence Corporation was founded in 2018 for the purpose of creating industrial robotics for heavy and hazardous industries, and later became a security defense company that became wealthy. After the death of cyber terrorist, Raul Menendez in 2025, his shell company, the Tacitus Corporation was dissolved. Tacitus' shares were bought back by Coalescence, which benefited the company since a large number of Coalescence's robotics and unarmed systems were based off of Tacitus' products and research.

Expansion[]

In 2026, Coalescence was apparently partnering with DARPA to conduct research into augmentations, which marked the company's trade in human augmentations for military soldiers. During the 2040s, military forces across the world started to adopt exoskeletons to use in the battlefield, and Coalescence saw their shares prices soar. In 2042, Coalescence acquired Axcentric Systems, granting it's foothold in mental augmentation and neuro-imaging technology. In 2051, Coalescence experienced huge market growth from genetic augmentation and organ replacement sales, which became popular as luxury products.

Singapore Disaster[]

On June 2nd, 2060, while scientist were conducting experiments in a Coalescence facility in Singapore, a unknown toxin was accidently released. The toxin caused massive casualties, and the Singaporean government initiated a quarantine zone, and the Singapore Armed Forces were ordered shoot fleeing citizens for fear of contamination. Coalescence cooperated fully with the Singaporean government, and paid much for the relief effort for survivors still within the quarantine zone.

Though the cause for the disaster was unknown, it's later revealed that the Coalescence building was conducting DNI testing under a black project with the CIA, called SP/CORVUS. A glitch in the system caused the DNI occupants to have their minds merged into a artificial intelligence called "Corvus". His creation resulted in the explosion, releasing the chemical agent later revealed to be Nova 6, a nerve toxin that was nearly used in World War II and the Cold War. The only two survivors of the disaster were Sebastian Krueger and Dr. Yousef Salim, who covered up the incident with the help of the CIA. Despite the company losing massive financing and reputational costs, Coalescence would survive the incident and continued to trade.

Dr. Salim felt great remorse for being part of the cover up, and decided to hide in Egypt as Krueger still wanted to work on the project. After Coalescence's headquarters was moved to Zürich, Switzerland, Krueger continued working on the project.

Discovery of the Project[]

In 2064, a Winslow Accord consisting of agents Dylan Stone, Alice Conrad, Javier Ramirez and Joseph Fierro were tasked with going to the abandoned Coalescence facility when the 54 Immortals set off an alarm. The team stumbled upon the site and the dead human test subjects, and discovered the CIA's involvement of the black project. With this knowledge, Stone and his team decided to leak the intel to the whole word, and when the CIA learned of this, sent WA operatives John Taylor and Jacob Hendricks to stop them.

Though they defeated Ramirez, he still managed to upload the intel worldwide, revealing the CIA's connection to the Singapore disaster. Despite the reveal, 54 Immortals leader Goh Xiulan ordered her soldiers to flood the facility, as she wanted to kill Taylor and Hendricks for killing her brother. Taylor and Hendricks escaped in time, and later rescued their handler Rachel Kane from Goh Xiulan and the 54i. Stone later captured Dr. Salim and learned that Krueger was the other survivor, and decided that he wanted to confront him for his crimes. Taylor and Hendricks managed to kill Stone and his team, and the leaked data was plaid off as CDP propaganda.

The Simulation[]

Upon the death of the Player, Corvus was reborn through their DNI, and transferred his and the Player's conscious into Taylor's mind. Wanting to the origin of his creation, Corvus decided to re-create the manhunt of Stone and his team, and made Taylor and his team the agents who discovered the black project. Corvus proceeded to infect Taylor and his team, leading to their deaths due to DNI infection.

Zürich Attack[]

Angered at his friend's deterioration and the Coalescence's cover up, Hendricks launched an attack on the Coalescence's headquarters in Zürich. Hendricks slaughtered the entire staff and reprogrammed the robotics and unnamed systems to fight Zürich Security Forces, and managed to capture Krueger. Kane and Taylor (who's mind was controlled by the Player) battled through the reprogrammed robots and came across Nova 6 gas, and Kane is tricked by Corvus to enter the Nova gas chamber.

The Player confronts Hendricks, who kills Krueger in a last ditch effort before being killed by the Player themselves. The Player commits suicide to stop the infection, and awakens in the Frozen Forest created by Corvus, who attempts to sway them to his side. Taylor aids the Player in stopping Corvus, who does so by purging their DNI after destroying each "heart" of the infection.

Though Hendricks was stopped, it's possible that Coalescence's crimes could be exposed due their being Nova 6 and experiment chambers inside the facility. It's also possible that the corporation could suffer from heavy causalities, and from the exposure of their crimes.

Trivia[]

  • Coalescence is similar to the Atlas Corporation from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare:
    • Both wield advanced technology.
    • Both conducted unethical human experimentation.
    • Both use bio-chemical weapons, or have toxins for unethical reasons.
