Cynthia "Coco" von Doom is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Galactus) of The Super Hero Squad Show.
She is the nagging and equally evil mother of infamous supervillain Doctor Doom. She was originally imprisoned in Chthon's dimension, though she was eventually freed by Doom, leading to her becoming an antagonistic force in his life.
She was voiced by Charlie Adler, who also voiced her son in the same series.
Personality[]
Coco von Doom has the personality of a stereotypical mother. She constantly nags people, to the point where her nagging actually manifested itself as a superpower strong enough to take down the Hulk. She very much disapproves of her son, mostly for his lack of a doctorate and overall failure as a villain. Despite her comical nature at first glance, she is actually very evil, even trying to destroy Super Hero City and ending countless lives. Much like her son, she is incredibly intelligent, managing to make a spray that incapacitates her enemies.
History[]
Past[]
Years before the series took place, Coco von Doom had a child named Victor, whom she taught about villainy. However, she constantly disapproved of him, as his evil prowess was lacking. At some point, she was trapped in an alternate dimension by Chthon, setting her son on a decades long plan to save her.
Mother of Doom[]
After traveling to Chthon's dimension, Doctor Doom broke into his mother's cell, though she was not grateful in the slightest and did not seem to care about returning home. Nonetheless, Doom took his mother back to Earth, where she wasted no time berating him. Not wanting to deal with her, Doom told M.O.D.O.K. and Abomination to look over her. She greatly annoyed them as well, to the point where they attempted to push the woman out of a helicopter. Their plan was interrupted by Hulk, whom Coco nearly killed with her nagging abilities. Coco was later returned to Chthon's dimension as part of a deal between him and Doom, though she still managed to harass her son through Maskbook.
Pedicure and Facial of Doom[]
After managing to create a spray that made people more relaxed and submissive, Cynthia escaped her imprisonment with Chthon as her slave. Then, as a front for her plan, she took over Doom's castle in Latvaria and transformed it into a day spa, even getting an unwillingly Ms. Marvel as a customer.
After another failed plan, Doctor Doom attempted to retire to his fortress with M.O.D.O.K. and Abomination, and was horrified to see what his mother had done to it. Not long after, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, and Wolverine attempted to free Ms. Marvel only to fall the same fate that she did. Coco then used her nagging powers to force Doom to tend to her new clients.
After having her son had work for a substantial amount of time, she unveiled her newest creation: a device capable of destroying an entire city. She attempted to use it to destroy Super Hero City and take over the world, but the heroes tried to defeat her. Thanks to the spray, Coco was able to easily beat the heroes. However, Doom, tired of his mother, created an antidote spray and used it on their enemies. With her plan foiled, Coco was taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D.
Trivia[]
- This is the only version of Cynthia von Doom to be a villain.
- It is unclear why she wears a mask like her son, as in the comics, Doom wears a mask to hide the injuries caused by a failed portal to the dimension his mother was being kept in. Though given the show's nonchalant attitude towards Marvel lore, it's unlikely that is the case in this continuity.
