The Cod-Stealing Rabbit is an antagonist of the 2019 restaurant simulation game Animal Restaurant. He is a thief who consistently shows up at the restaurant to steal its hard earned money.
Appearance[]
The Cod-Stealing Rabbit is an anthropomorphic white rabbit with gray spots alongside his back and head. He conceals his identity using a black mask, and carries around a beige sack.
Personality[]
While the game has very little dialogue, the Cod-Stealing Rabbit gets some of the most characterization in the game hidden in the games various letters. On the surface, the Cod-Stealing Rabbit has a quite simple goal: stealing cod. He constantly shows up at the restaurant and gives a chuckle when successful, revealing that he takes a childish pleasure in his work.
As revealed in his letters, the Cod-Stealing Rabbit has a crush on Timmy, the server of the restaurant, one which is appreciated on Timmy's end. The rabbit often sends letters of praise and gifts to Timmy, but is too shy to do much else. Adding on to his childishness, his letters are often covered in doodles. The rabbit also seems to dislike crowds, which he slowly tries to break out of during the course of some of his letters.

Gameplay[]
Every so often while the game is running, the Cod-Stealing Rabbit will make his way into the restaurant, where he will steal any cod that is lying on the ground. In order to deter him, the player has to tap on him multiple times until he leaves.
The process is simplified if the player hires Timmy the Server, who will automatically make the thief leave the restaurant for a cup of tea.
Phantom's Letter[]
One day, Timmy gets a letter in the mail covered in doodles requesting an order. The sender makes it clear that they know Timmy, but their identity is unknown, only signed by "Phantom". While confused over this, the staff ultimately prepare the meal, which the Phantom, revealed to be the Cod-Stealing Rabbit, happily picks up.
Afterwards, the player has a chance at obtaining letters from the "Phantom", detailing his personal growth. The Cod-Stealing Rabbit starts working up the courage to meet others, and decides to join a Ceramic Art Association in his free time.
Timmy's Essay[]
At one unknown point when running with his bounty, the Cod-Stealing Rabbit tripped and fell, injuring his leg. Due to his injury, the thief stops showing up, much to Timmy's disappointment. The rabbit eventually turned up trying to gift Timmy another letter, still limping from the fall. Timmy decides to leave him be for the time being.
Eggy's Diary[]
During one Halloween, the restaurant decided to throw a party, with many of the staff's friends coming along. However, during the celebration, Eggy notes of a rabbit-like silhouette watching them from the window. As revealed by the sack the rabbit carries in the image, this is the Cod-Stealing Rabbit, too shy to invite himself in.

- The Chinese version of the game has his Phantom alias be listed as "黑白君", loosely translating to "Black and white gentleman".
- According to "Timmy's Essay 3", the thief sends his letters by putting them directly into the restaurant's mailbox.
