|~ The cartel's recurring threat towards Claude.|
The Colombian Cartel (also known as Colombians) are an antagonistic faction in Grand Theft Auto III and its prequel Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.
The Colombian Cartel was founded in Liberty City during the year 1998. Miguel, the Colombian person who founded the cartel, imported a handful of other Colombians from their home country. Miguel and his fellow Colombians then decided to import SPANK directly from their home country. They smuggled the drug through Francis International Airport and the Portland Harbor. The cartel distributed SPANK throughout Liberty City.
Three years later, Catalina and her boyfriend Claude joined the cartel. They helped the Cartel to rob the Liberty City Bank. During the bank heist, however, Catalina betrayed Claude and left him to for dead. As a result, Claude was arrested and sentenced to Liberty Penitentiary.
During Claude's departure in a police van, a few Colombian Cartel members ran the van off the road. They killed the driver and abducted one of the inmates. Before leaving, the Colombians left a bomb on the Callahan Bridge where the situation took place. Claude and the only other inmate, a man named 8-Ball, were left. Claude managed to get keys from the dead driver's body, and used them to free himself and 8-Ball. The bomb detonated seconds later and destroyed the bridge's mid section. This separated Portland from the rest of Liberty City.
