Colonel Babylon is the secondary antagonist of the anime movie Doraemon: Nobita and the Winged Braves. He is the colonel of the Bird Immigration Patrolling Troops and Commander Seagrid's loyal right-hand.
He was voiced by Yasunori Matsumoto, who voiced Powereddark of the Mutation in Tensou Sentai Goseiger, Danganloid in Tokumei Sentai Go-Buster, Type Shadow in Ressha Sentai ToQger and (Great) Halloween World in Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger.
Appearance[]
Babylon is a Birdpian falcon with dark fur, albeit with white fur on his chin. He wears pink Bird Immigration Patrolling Troops uniform with its symbol on his chest, and yellow lines and shoulder pads.
Personality[]
Babylon is defined entirely by his devotion to Seagrid. Like his superior, he's also misanthropic, and determines to achieve his goal no matter how many he has to hurt. He also shows a rude side of himself when taunting Gusuke for being unable to fly. However, after witnessing Icarus rescuing Seagrid, he gains a respect for the legendary hero and presumably redeems himself in the process.
History[]
Babylon rose to his rank after Icarus was imprisoned for causing Seagrid to be shot. Like his commander, he's very misanthropic and orders any human caught in Birdpia to be executed on sight. He and Seagrid have asked Professor Hou to sign a treaty of committing a massacre against humans multiple times, but the Professor refuses every time.
Babylon is first seen alongside Seagrid and his troops in Gusuke's house, asking Gusuke's father to sign the treaty, to which Gusuke's father refuses due to how dangerous and risky it is, much to Babylon and Seagrid's anger. Before leaving, the two mocks Gusuke for the boy's lack of ability to fly (due to a childhood trauma). That night, they are delighted upon hearing that Professor Hou has translated an ancient tablet that contain the key to unleash the entity Phoenixia, but also angered upon hearing the soldiers reporting Suneo and Gian's escape. As a result, they decide that Gusuke is a thorn that must be removed.
The next day, Babylon alongside Seagrid are among the people who oversee the annual Rally Icarus Race, which is created to recruit new members for the Bird Migration Patrolling Troops. Although Gusuke is one of the two people who win the race (the other one being Tsubakuro), Seagrid announces that Gusuke is discarded from winning due to "only flying via a plane rather than by his own wings", and disqualified from the competition for good, in order to avoid Gusuke from getting in the way of his plans. As a result, Tsubakuro and the second-placed winner, Tobio, who's also Tsubakuro's friend, are recruited as the new troopers, alongside Suneo and Gian. After this, Seagrid orders his troops to go to the frozen mountain in which Phoenixia is being imprisoned, and bring Professor Hou with them. When Suneo and Gian defy the order and blow their covers, Seagrid and Babylon have them captured and locked with the Professor.
Upon arriving to the mountain, Seagrid successfully frees Phoenixia via a bomb. However, the heroes alongside the recently-self-released Icarus come to stop them and rescue Suneo, Gian and Professor Hou, and attempt to use the Evolution Ray to devolve the monster to a harmless state. Unfortunately, thanks to Babylon's intervention the ray accidentally causes Phoenixia to grow larger. Satisfied with the monster's growth, Seagrid attempts to order it to do his biddings, but Phoenixia attacks him, knocking him unconscious. Thankfully, Icarus rescues Seagrid and asks Babylon to take care of him, before the characters head to stop the dragon.
It's unknown what happened to Babylon afterwards, as he's not seen nor mentioned for the rest of the movie, but it's possible that due to his change of heart, he may have been forgiven for his crimes, or at least received a lesser punishment than Seagrid. Given that Icarus is later shown to return to his position as the colonel, it's implied that Babylon has been at least demoted if not even removed entirely from his post, either willingly or unwillingly.

Trivia[]
- Babylon can be considered an evil counterpart to Icarus, as both of them are military colonels of strong avian descent. However, while Icarus is a heroic person who aids the heroes, Babylon aids Seagrid in unleashing Phoenixia, which endangers the human world and potentially Birdpia itself.
