Colonel Hansen is an antagonist in the Mirage Kingdom arc from the Pokémon anime. He is a corrupt and power-hungry official in the Mirage Kingdom who seeks to become king at any cost, and steals Misty's Togepi in order to do so.
History[]
He appears in the episodes "The Princess and the Togepi" and "A Togepi Mirage." It's revealed that he hired Jessie, James, and Meowth to find him a Togepi. They lure Misty into a trap and kidnap her in a blimp, taking her and Togepi to the Mirage Kingdom, with Ash, Brock, May and Max stowing away as well. When Hansen discovers their presence, he scolds Team Rocket for complicating things and orders Misty to hand Togepi over. When she refuses, he has his Pokémon, a Shedinja and two Ninjask, attack the group. Misty and Togepi are separated, but Togepi is found by Princess Sarah. Misty finds Sarah and is told about Hansen's corruption.
Hansen then arrives and lies to the king that Misty had stolen Togepi from him, but the king sees through the deception and orders him away. Hansen then meets with Team Rocket and tells them he will share power with them if they continue to aid him. Misty then reunites with her friends and are advised to leave, but Hansen finds them and attacks them again. Togepi saves the group by transporting them to the Togepi paradise, which is sick and dying, as Hansen's "impure heart" is harming their world. Hansen is able to break through a portal and lures Togepi through it, then attacks Togepi and captures it, which horrifies Misty.
Hansen informs the king that he must stand down as he now has a Togepi. When he refuses, Hansen has Team Rocket arrest the king and queen and imprison them. A broadcast is made informing the public that Togepi has chosen Hansen as the new king. When Team Rocket asks for their reward, Hansen coldly says he no longer needs them and blasts them off. This enrages Team Rocket and they switch sides, telling Brock and Max where the king and queen are being held so they can rescue them.
Misty and her friends confront Hansen, who attacks them once more. Togepi evolves into Togetic and is aided by other Togepi, who shield the group from Hansen's attacks. Misty has had enough and tells Togetic to leave the rest to her. She sends out her Gyarados, who takes down Hansen's Shedinja. The king then arrives and arrests Hansen, while Team Rocket watch from a distance and comment that it serves him right.
