Colt Hawker is the main antagonist of the Canadian slasher Visiting Hours. Hawker's a misogynistic serial killer of powerful, inspirational women, taking photographs as trophies, targeting main character Debra Ballin as his next victim. Failing the first attempt on her life, he compulsively tracks her to the hospital for several more attempts, leaving a massacre in his wake to get to her, which ultimately fails as well.

Biography[]

Hawker's father regularly abused Hawker's mother and gave more mature exposure to Hawker in youth, like introducing to alcohol at a young age. Yet Hawker was more paternally relating than maternally. The abuse came to a head when during one of the Hawker father's worst attacks, the Hawker mother threw hot oil in his face to defend herself. Horrified by the hawker father's excruciation, Hawker not only grew to hate his mother, but all powerful, self-reliant, supportive women, pathologically becoming misogynistic and caring for his father most in a nursing home.

When his mother died, it was the trigger for Hawker to become a serial murderer of inspirational women and female pillars of the community, particularly elderly ones, evoking his own mother. He would brutally slash them to death, Polaroid their dying expressions, and cut then into a collage in his closet in the shape of a skull. All the while, hawker's father would beg for his mother to come back as he grew more senile, which Hawker could never stand, always having to remind him she died. Debra Ballin, a feminist news reporter, became Hawker's next target after seeing her motivational reports on TV. he broke into her mansion, stabbed her housekeeper to death, and tried to kill her too, but she hid in a dumbwaiter when she escaped. Hawker saw this and cut the dumbwaiter rope, sending her crashing to the first floor and breaking her arm, where she found her housekeeper lying in her blood. Hawkin tried to finish Ballin off, but she was saved just in time and brought to the hospital for recovery, while Hawker escaped.

Livid she survived, he made plans to try again. Sneaking into the hospital dressed as a doctor, he cuts the life support of whom he thinks is Ballin, but is revealed to be an elderly patient. When nurse Connie Wexler and sees the tragedy, she's stabbed to death and shoved into the room closet, leaving feminist nurse and new friend of Ballin Sheila Munroe to find both dead women. The police secure the scene, and when Ballin eavesdrops and hears about the murders, she's horrified Hawker's after her, despite Munroe and boss Gary Baylor trying to reassure her. Hearing Munroe's feminist comments and opposition against Hawker, Hawker stalks her and her children. Hawker visits his father, furiously refuses to mention his mother, and flashes back to his childhood and his father's disfigurement, contemplating his next move while massaging his shoulders.

He tries again at the hospital, ball-gagging and stabbing patient Vinnie Bradshaw to shut him up, then throwing a cop on security detail out a window, which only worsens his plans more and makes him run again. he picks up a younger girl, Lisa, at a diner and seduces her back to his apartment. What turns into flirts ends up with him threatening her with a knife, beating her and biting her, not aroused enough to rape her despite wanting to. He then throws her out, and Munroe personally handles her exam, but Lisa refuses to report. Hawker makes another ditch effort to kill Ballin again, and after cutting the machines of two patients and killing them, he gets the closest he ever has and threatens her dace to face with a switchblade. She's saved in the nick of time, and again, he runs, making him lose it even more. He goes to Munroe's house, calling her from there and threatening her daughter and babysitter.

When she gets there, she's relieved that everyone's safe and frantically places a phone call for help. However, she's surprised by a knife in her abdomen by Hawker, having attacked from under the table the phone was on. Per usual, Hawker takes more Polaroids, but he terrorises Ballin, who's on the other line, with Munroe's noises of pain. Munroe's left to die when hawker leaves, but she's rescued in time and wheeled into intensive care. Hawker, however, is horrified to find out Lisa and her friends vandalised the apartment, splattering it with mess, painting slurs all over his walls, and best of all for the protagonists, found his collage and stole some of his photos. Lisa, shocked but loving the work they all did, dashes to the hospital and shows the photos to Munroe, realising Hawker's the killer as well as Lisa's torturer.

Knowing there's only one chance left, hawker makes a last ditch effort of a deliberate admission into the hospital, by injecting his arm with a pain relieving drug, tying it off to prevent massive bleeding, then smashing a wine bottle under it. He smiles half-high and adrenal at the mutilation he put his arm through and swiftly gets taken to the hospital as well. Ballin, her friends, and the police are horrified Hawker made it, knowing he's going to try and kill again. After snapping an on duty officer's neck, he makes his wait to the ER, making Ballin realize he's after Munroe as much as her. Rushing to the same division, Hawker surprises her and covers her mouth, but she gets into a struggle and runs, taking his switchblade with her. Unfazed and seeing red from still wanting her blood, as Baylor and the squad rush to save the two women, Hawker follows her to the showers and changing rooms. He rips off the curtains from nearest to furthest, knowing she's behind one.

However, she gets the last laugh, for when he reaches the room she's in, she immediately stabs through the curtain and pierces hawker with the knife. He collapses from blood loss, and even though Hawker crawls after her and grabs at her ankle, Baylor and the cops arrive just in time to see Hawker die from shock and blood loss. As they lead Ballin away, Hawker's slightly bloody face is freeze-framed behind the rolling credits.
