~ Keller during a raid on a cantina. |
Commander Keller is a major antagonist in Star Wars: Republic: Into the Unknown, the nineteenth story arc in the Star Wars: Republic series of comic books.
During the Clone Wars, Commander Keller was the leader of a unit consisting of Galactic Marines on the cold planet of Toola.
Biography[]
When Supreme Chancellor Palpatine commanded the execution of Order 66, Keller and his clone troopers killed Jedi Master Simms. However, Simms' Padawan, Noirah Na, and another Jedi Master named Kai Hudorra were able to escape. Keller immediately began the pursuit of the two Jedis, however they were able to obtain two STAPs and create a distance between Keller.
But Keller soon found the STAPs abandoned due to the Jedi's fuel running out. Thanks to the icy cold of Planet Toola, there was a lot of snow which revealed the footprints of the Jedis heading towards the Ithaqua Station. Keller had the local garrison at the station warned and marched on with his troops.
When they arrived at the station, they searched a local cantina in hopes of finding the Jedis through a subsequent raid. One of the Jedis was present in the cantina, but Keller did not notice due to the Jedi manipulating the mind of one of the guests, who incited him against Keller and his troops. A wild brawl broke out, during which the Jedi were able to flee unrecognized. Since the temperatures dropped drastically at night, Keller and his clone troopers had to break off the search, and when they resumed the search the next day, the Jedi were no longer on Toola, although Keller and his clone troopers were unaware of this.
What happened to Keller afterwards and whether he ever gave up the search for the two Jedi is not known.
Personality[]
After receiving Order 66, Keller remained loyal to the Republic and attacked his former Jedi superiors. He conducted the subsequent pursuit of the Jedi thoroughly, in line with his training as an ARC Commander. He didn't hesitate to use unpopular measures such as martial law, raids, and curfews. Keller and his soldiers were disliked by the civilian population of Toola.
