Commander Shepherd (One Piece)

Commander Shepherd (not to be confused with Shepherd Ju Peter) is a major antagonist in the anime only G8 arc of One Piece. He is voiced by Keiichi Nanba in Japanese and Duncan Brannan in English.

Biography[]

Commander Shepherd arrives at G8 to inspect it, yet he makes it clear he has not desire to be there, threatening to court marshal lower ranking marine who dares to even talk to him. At the same time, he is mad at the lack of a welcoming committee for him. There, he demands to speak with Jonathan, the vice admiral in charge of G8, only to be denied due to the vice admiral being on lunch breack.

In spite of this, Shepherd attempts to see Jonathan himself while continuing to threaten court marshall on the other marines. On his way, he runs into Nico Robin, who knocks him out in takes his clothes to impersonate him. Due to the marines hunting the straw hats, they find Shepherd and assume him to be one of the crew. In spite of Shepherd attempts to convince them he isn't one of the Straw Hats, Usopp, who figures out that Robin is impersonating the guy, convinces the marines that Shepherd is one of them, even going to far as to call him Condoriano and that he is suffering from amnesia before Zoro knocks the commanding marine out. Once the Usopp and Zoro break free and the rest of the crew are found out, including Robin's cover being blown, Shepherd is discovered to be the real marine general.

Angered over the humiliation, Shepherd threatens to have G8 shut down while also making it clear he would take all the credit in capturing the Straw Hats. He even threatened to have Jonathan removed from his position for failing with Jonathan casually responding by pointing out how Shepherd had been interfering with the capture the entire time

As Jonathan makes one last attempt to capture the Straw Hats, Shepherd attempts to use the Eagle Launcher to take the glory resulting in the Straw Hats getting away. He once again blames Jonathan for their escape, getting him punched out by Chef Jessica.
