The Conehead Groom is a supporting antagonist of the 2008 indie game Castle Crashers. He is the leader and founder of the Conehead Army, and the presumed son of the Cyclops.

Biography[]

After the Princesses were kidnapped by the Evil Wizard and his goons, the Conehead Groom obtains the Green Princess after the Cyclops obtains her from thieves. The Groom takes the Green Princess to a cathedral so he could forcefully marry the Princess against her will. With aid from the King's army, the knights storm the cathedral in the Flower Field, beat past the Conehead guards, and enter the cathedral through a window. While the other knights fall to their deaths, the players land on the wedding cake, startling the Groom. Angered, he orders the remaining guards dispose the intruders while he takes the Green Princess to the altar.

Once the knights reach the altar, the Groom battles against them for the Green Princess' hand. He attacks using his sword, moving towards them at an agile pace. He can swing, lunge, or swirl his sword in a circular pattern. Because of his fast speed in attacking, using melee is not advice; the player should instead attack him with ranged weapons such as arrows, as each one causes him to fall to the ground. After enough damage, the Groom rushes to the church organ, equipped with large cannons. He guards himself with lasers as he plays the organ. As he plays, the cannons fire bombs through the arena, with red X's marked on the ground where the bombs will land. As he loses more health, the Groom's cannons fire more bombs.

Once the Groom is defeated, the Cyclops emerges from the bathroom and mourns his son's death before escaping through the exit door with the Green Princess in his arms. At the top of the Cyclops' fortress, he holds a funeral for the Groom, only to be thwarted by the arrival of the knights, ending with him accidentally falling into the lava pit dug out to bury the Groom's coffin. After the Necromancer revives the Cyclops into the Recyclops, he uses the Groom's coffin as a battering ram to battle the knights when they fight him in the Wizard's castle. During the attack where the Cyclops bounces on the coffin, the Groom, now undead, emerges from his coffin to chase after the knights. Attacking him does nothing, and can only be defeated once the Recyclops is defeated. Upon defeat, the boss chest crushes both the Recyclops and Undead Groom. They then appear as angels playing harps as they ascend upwards to heaven.

After defeating the Evil Wizard, during the ending celebration of the Princesses' return, the angel of the Conehead Groom can be seen playing his harp alongside the band, implying redemption.

Appearance[]

The Conehead Groom resembles the regular Conehead enemies with his gray armor including a cone helmet, shield, and a blue sword, only he is wearing a tuxedo.

Trivia[]

  • The Conehead Groom is one of the only two human bosses to serve the Evil Wizard, the other being the Industrial Prince.
  • Even if the Cyclops is the Groom's father, the Groom is shown to have two eyes as seen when they pop out of his visor when the knights smash into his wedding cake.
