Constance Langdon is the secondary antagonist of the first season, American Horror Story: Murder House, and a minor character in the eighth season, American Horror Story: Apocalypse.
She is the mother of Tate Langdon, a ghostly mass murderer, and the matriarch of the Langdon Family. She has an obsession with the Murder House.
She is portrayed by Jessica Lange, who played multiple other villains in the series, such as Sister Jude in Asylum, Fiona Goode in Coven, and Elsa Mars in Freak Show, as well as Tamora in the 1999 film adaptation of Titus Andronicus.

Background[]
Constance grew up in Virginia, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. However, this career eventually faded, and she ended up married to Hugo Langdon, and they had four children: Tate, Beauregard, Adelaide, and Rose (who died at a young age).
In 1983, Constance found out that Hugo had cheated on her with their maid Moira O'Hara, resulting in Constance killing them both. Constance began drinking heavily and taking her anger out Tate and Adelaide. Eventually, Constance, without Hugo's money could no longer afford their house, and the bank repossessed it. Eventually, a man named Larry Harvey and his family moved into the house, and Constance began a relationship with him. Larry's wife, Lorraine, ended up burning herself and their kids alive. Some time later, Constance manipulated Larry into killing Beauregard.
In 1994, Tate had a psychotic break. First, he went to Larry's place of work and set him on fire. Then, he shot up his high school, killing 15 students. Finally, he went back to the house, where he was gunned down by a SWAT team.
