When I look at you, I know I can tell you the truth. I'm not afraid of these people. I'm not afraid anymore. You tell me that you want to burn it down, or you tell me you want to burn it to the ground.
~ Corey declaring his love to Allyson and telling her he's not afraid; his most famous quote.
I get it. You survived Michael Myers. You're a hero with your struggles. And ask anyone, I'm the psycho babysitter. I'm the fucking kid killer. And you think you can fix me, but you can't. I'll spare you the heartache.
~ Corey telling Allyson how he's seen as a "psycho" just before leaving her to go home.

Corey Cunningham is the secondary antagonist of the 2022 horror slasher film Halloween Ends, the third and final installment of the 2018 timeline of John Carpenter's Halloween franchise.

He was a babysitter who accidentally caused the death of a child while playing a practical joke on him, which would cause the citizens of Haddonfield to see him a psychopathic child killer, and hated by the people, until he meets Michael Myers in the sewers, which would make his pain and suffering turn into evil to become his successor.

He was portrayed by Rohan Campbell, who will play Billy Chapman in the upcoming 2025 Silent Night, Deadly Night.

Personality[]

Being harassed and accused of child murder for 3 years, Corey is a deeply broken and insecure man who wants revenge on bullies who have hurt him. He is also shown to be ruthless, as shown when he stabs Dr. Mathis in the neck and cuts off Willy's tongue with scissors. He is also cruel towards Laurie and Allyson, wanting to kill the former and trying to get the latter to betray her grandmother so he can escape Haddonfield with her. Plus, the fact that Michael Myers made him his apprentice really goes to show how vile Corey is.

However, he does have redeeming qualities, as his feelings for Allyson were genuine as he tried to kill himself while demanding her to keep being his lover, and he also loves his stepfather Ronald Prevo as he was mad at Terry Tramer for killing him and even burned half of Terry's face as revenge.

Biography[]

Backstory[]

On Halloween night in 2019, a 21‑year‑old Corey babysits a boy named Jeremy. When the boy locks Corey in an attic as a prank, he panics and kicks the door open, accidentally sending Jeremy falling over a banister to his death. Though he's cleared of wrongdoing in court, the town labels him a "psycho babysitter", and he becomes a social pariah in Haddonfield.

Halloween Ends[]

By 2022, Corey began working at his stepfather's salvage yard and is relentlessly bullied. During a confrontation with local teens, he's injured, which sets up a chance meeting with Laurie Strode, who brings him to a doctor's office where her granddaughter Allyson works. Allyson, the nurse, develops a kind-hearted bond, and later a romantic interest with him. They attend a Halloween party together, but Corey's past resurfaces when Jeremy's mother confronts him, triggering his distrust of Laurie's influence.

After being thrown off a bridge and dragged into the sewers by bullies, Corey comes face‑to‑face with Michael Myers, who eventually spares him. That same night, Corey stabs Nelson Christopher, a homeless man in self-defense, marking his first deliberate act of violence.

Encouraged (directly or indirectly) by Michael's influence, Corey goes on a personal killing spree. He kills the doctor who overlooked Allyson for a promotion, lures and murders Allyson's ex-boyfriend Doug Mulaney, and retaliates against his bullies and even his own mother, claiming his urge is fueled by love for Allyson and condemnation of the town's hatred.

Laurie notices the change in Corey and warns Allyson that he is "infected" with an internal kind of evil (apparently not supernatural), but born from trauma and rejection. Corey attempts to kill Laurie while wearing Michael's mask, who shoots him and he falls. However, he surprisingly survives. In a nihilistic move, Corey stabs himself to appear as if Laurie killed him. However, Michael returns, reclaims his symbols of power and brutally snaps Corey's neck, killing him for good.

Family[]

  • Walter Cunningham - Father (unknown)
  • Joan Cunningham † - Mother
  • Ronald Prevo † - Stepfather
  • Allyson Nelson - Girlfriend

List of Killed Victims[]

Trivia[]

  • Corey is one of the least evil villains in the franchise, as his victims are mainly bullies and people who have hurt him. This makes him one of the few well-intentioned villains in the film series.
  • Corey has similar killing methods to Michael.
  • In the novelization of Halloween Ends, before Michael snaps Corey's neck, it is said that he tried to corrupt Corey again with his evil, but he resisted.
