~ Cornbread deceiving the humans into giving him his money, only to turn one of them into a vampire.

Cornbread is a supporting character in the 2025 period action horror film Sinners.

He is a cotton field worker who befriends the twin Moore brothers and is assigned as the bouncer of the juke joint. Originally an ally of the main protagonists, he would later turn against them after being bit by Remmick.

He was portrayed by Omar Benson Miller.

Biography[]

Cornbread is a cotton field worker who is married to another worker named Theresa, who is pregnant. He was friends with the twins and Mary prior to the events of the film. One day, Stack finds him and invites him to be a bouncer for the juke joint they purchased. He at first refuses but eventually reluctantly agrees.

Later that night, when the party starts, he is stationed at the entrance. At one point, he leaves to take a piss in the woods, only to be attacked by the vampires. He later appears going back to the Juke Joint, having secretly been turned into a vampire, and asks to be let in, as vampires can only enter homes after being invited in. Having seen that Mary had been turned into a vampire after she killed Stack, Smoke refuses to let Cornbread in. Cornbread then begrudgingly asks for his money, and when Smoke gives it to him, Cornbread reveals his fangs and attempts to bite him, only to be shot in the face and survive.

Later, he chases one of the partygoers begging him to be let in the juke joint and then brutally kills and converts him into a vampire just as the twins open the door. He is seen singing and dancing with the other vampires at the distance. He and the other vampires manage to kill Smoke's remaining friends and just as they joined to witness Remmick attempt to kill Sammie, he is hit by a metal guitar in the head, and also is stunned with the shared pain. As the sun rises, he and the other vampires, except Stack and Mary, burned and perished.

Personality[]

Cornbread is a kind and caring man who will protect and stand up for his friends and family, such as defending his wife from Stack's vulgar remarks and offering his condolences to Mary whose mother recently passed away.

Now reborn a vampire, he still retains most of his former personality as he danced along to Remmick's song happily along with the rest of the vampires. However, he has now become a ruthless, manipulative, callous, and monstrous as he attempted to bite Smoke twice as a trick to let him in the juke joint and killed one of the patrons begging to be let in. He also no longer cared that most of his former friends were killed and turned into vampires.
