The Corpse of King Minos or Gilgamesh is a minor antagonist in Ultrakill. As his name suggests, it is the reanimated corpse of King Minos, the former ruler of the layer of Lust. A blackened, towering husk wrapped in barbed wire, it is controlled by a pair of skeletal worms in its eyes. It is labelled as a Supreme Husk, and debuts in 2-4, "Court of the Corpse King".

Biography[]

Following Minos' death at Gabriel's hands for his kindness towards his subjects, his corpse ended up being controlled by two large, skeletal worms. No longer the kind, loving ruler he was in life, his corpse now shines its now beaming eye sockets towards whomever it deems as a sinner before destroying them. With no one able to stop their wrath, the Corpse of King Minos has turned the layer of Lust into an abandoned city, with only hostile entities lurking in the city streets.

Before being fought, the Corpse of King Minos is seen throughout the layer of Lust surveying the cityscape, his massive form being easy to spot amongst the background. As V1 gets closer and closer to the gargantuan figure throughout their quest, the two figures eventually meet in the final level of the layer, "Court of the Corpse King". As V1 rides across one of the tram-like platforms after placing down the blue skull, the power in the area fails as the hand of the corpse suddenly juts out from the void, intent to kill its robotic adversary. As the hand creates shockwaves by slamming its fist into the tunnel's sides, the player is needed the shoot the hand until it returns from the inky blackness, thus restoring the power. However, the Corpse of King Minos makes its full appearance after the player places down the red skull. As the player activates the second switch, the doors behind them will close before the Corpse bursts in from above. Tearing off the ceiling to create a makeshift arena, allowing itself to begin the fight.

To attack, the Corpse of King Minos mainly attacks with its fists, swinging them in a wide arc. However, these punches hide a very big weakness, as they can be parried to deal massive damage to the Corpse. After some time, the Corpse will create a black hole that slowly chases the player, reducing their HP to a single hit point and removing their healing ability for a few seconds if it hits them.

At half health, Minos' stark white eyes explode, with the parasites controlling it emerging from the vacant pits. While the Corpse at this point stops generating black holes, the two worms are able to create energy projectiles, be it a wide-hitting array of "hell orbs" or energy balls that home in on the player.

After rendering the Corpse inert for a second time, the exit for the level can be found in its mouth, leading V1 into the layer of Gluttony.
