~ The lawyer revealing to Romeo that he took a bribe from his father. |
Jolyne's unnamed corrupt lawyer is a minor antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean. He is a sleazy criminal defense attorney hired by Enrico Pucci and Johngalli A. to frame Jolyne Cujoh for the manslaughter of a hitchhiker, luring Jolyne's father, Jotaro, to Green Dolphin Street Prison so Pucci could steal his memory disc.
Biography[]
It is unknown whether the lawyer was once an honest man who slowly became corrupt over the years, or if he was always a shady attorney. At some point during or before 2011, the lawyer was hired by Johngalli A. to incriminate Jolyne Cujoh for manslaughter through any means necessary, so that Johngalli's ally, Enrico Pucci, could lure her father, Jotaro Kujo, to Green Dolphin Street Prison and steal his memory disc.
In 2011, the lawyer met with Jolyne in a detention center and handed her various items sent by her mother, including an amulet from her father which would awaken Jolyne's stand, Stone Free. Later, when Jolyne was transferred to Green Dolphin Street Prison, the lawyer advised for Jolyne to enter charge negotiations. He suggested that if Jolyne pleaded guilty to the charges, she would only receive one or two years behind bars.
Jolyne eventually accepted the deal, but during her hearing, the judge sentenced her to 15 years imprisonment. It turned out the lawyer had lied about the negotiations and had taken a bribe from the father of Jolyne's boyfriend, Romeo Jisso, to make sure Romeo was acquitted despite being the one responsible for the manslaughter in the first place. Thanks to Jolyne's guilty plea, Romeo was freed without charge. The lawyer told Romeo that, since Jolyne had pleaded guilty, she would not be able to appeal to a higher court, revealing he never intended to get Jolyne out of jail in the first place.
Later, the lawyer arrived at Green Dolphin Street to submit his final paperwork on Jolyne's case. Speaking with Loccobarocco, the prison's warden, he pretended to be ashamed for being unable to lessen Jolyne's sentence. Loccobarocco sympathized with the attorney and tried to compliment him, before handing him a letter from Jolyne. Of course, the lawyer did not actually feel a single moment of regret for his actions.
In his car, the lawyer read Jolyne's letter, which turned out to be a death threat. However, he nonchalantly crumpled the paper into a ball and chucked it onto the passenger's seat, dismissing her words. Driving away, the lawyer hypocritically remarked how he had to "breathe the same air as those scum" in the prison, despite being a criminal himself due to his corruption. Suddenly, karma caught up with the lawyer when Stone Free's strings, which Jolyne had allowed to infiltrate the vehicle, wrapped around his neck and began choking the attorney. Unable to breathe, the lawyer crashed into the side of the road, ironically in a similar fashion to how Romeo and Jolyne ran over the hitchhiker.
The lawyer's ultimate fate is unknown, but it can be assumed that he either died from his wounds or was taken to a hospital to receive medical treatment.
