The Divine Dragon Queen Lumera, also known as the Divine Dragon Monarch, Corrupted Lumera and the Goddess in shadow, is a supporting antagonist of the 2023 tactical role-playing video game Fire Emblem Engage.
She's at first the benevolent deity of the continent Elyos and queen of Lythos who saved her continent from the Fell Dragon King Sombron, but, after her death at the hands of the Fell Princess, Sombron revives her, uses his powers to twist her mind and turns her into his psychotic enforcer, Corrupted Lumera, who guards one of the Fell Dragon Shards (the artifacts that generate the forcefield that protects the portal to the multiverse) and acts as the commander of Sombron's lair (Gradlon Temple).
In Japanese, Lumera was voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi. In English, she was voiced by Julia McIlvaine, who also voiced Brunnya in Fire Emblem Heroes.
Physical Appearance[]
In her humanoid form, Lumera has blue eyes and long blue braided hair. She wears a white dress with pink and golden highlights, a yellow coat with golden highlights and a golden crown. She also wears golden bracelets, heels and necklace and a white veil and matching tights.
In her dragon form, the Divine Dragon has blue eyes, white and silver scales and silver horns. She also has blue, white and silver feathered wings and a sharp tail.
Biography[]
Lumera is a member of the Divine Dragon tribe, a royal family of dragons who are worshipped by humans as the gods of the continent of Elyos and rule over the Holy Land of Lythos that is located at the center of Elyos. A millennium before the start of the story, Lumera's family was decimated during a war with Sombron, the other god of Elyos. Lumera, as the sole survivor, became the figurehead of the force opposing Sombron, but was secretly crushed under the pressure and lonely. One day, Lumera encountered a child at the verge of death and saved them, only to discover that the child was the offspring of Sombron. However, the Fell Child, touched by Lumera's kindness, agreed to befriend her. Lumera decided to adopt the child (named Alear) and continue the fight against Sombron. At the end of the war, Alear and Sombron ended up killing each other, but Lumera was able to save Alear's life by transferring her Divine Dragon energy to them and seal Sobron away. Lumera has also hidden Alear's origins so that no one will know that Alear is Sombron's biological child, which proves to be a good idea since Fell Dragons are persecuted because of Sombron's actions.
At the start of the main story, Alear wakes up from their slumber after one thousand years, but Sombron's undead minions - the Corrupted - attacks them and their retainers. Fortunately, Lumera saves Alear and their servants, explains to them who are Sombron and the Corrupted and decides to train them to face the forces of the Fell Dragon. Lumera also discovers that Alear suffers from amnesia and decides to hide their past from them because she fears that the truth would be too much for her child. Alas, Lumera's castle becomes the target of Sombron's yougest daughter, the Fell Princess, who steals some of the rings and deals a fatal blow to Lumera. The latters gives an Emblem ring (the ring of her partner Sigurd) to her child, asks Alear to stop Sombron and passes away in the Dragon Child's arms.
At the end of the game Sombron kills Alear and takes the rings, but the Fell Princess Veyle is saved from ther darkness, turns Alear into a Corrupted and gets back the rings. Alear dies again, but is brought back as an Emblem. Sombron, on the other hand, summons Gradlon, his land that sunk into the sea during the first war, and opens a portal to other worlds. Sombron revives Lumera as a Corrupted whose feelings are twisted by the Fell Dragon's magic, goes into the portal and creates a forcefield around said portal thanks to three artifacts known as the Fell Dragon Shards. Before leaving, Sombron places Lumera in charge of his main base (Gradlon Temple) and orders her to protect the shard.
During the the penultimate chapter, Alear, Veyle and their allies confront Corrupted Lumera and the latter attempts to kill Veyle as a payback for Veyle's murder of Lumera at the beginning of the game. Alear tries to convince Lumera to stand down, but Lumera, who wants to spend more time with Alear by taking advantage of Sombron's actions, refuses. Lumera is defeated, but is freed from Sombron's grasp and bids farewell to Alear before disappearing.
Lumera is later revived in Fire Emblem Heroes, joins the Order of Heroes and is reunited with Alear and Veyle. Lumera makes peace with Veyle in the process.

Trivia[]
- Lumera is both the second and second-to-last boss of Fire Emblem Engage.
- Her map theme is called "Goddess in shadow".
- Lumera's concept art reveals that she was supposed to have pink and blue hair. She was also supposed to have heterochromia, like Alear.
- While Lumera isn't evil at heart and is brainwashed by Sombron, she takes on a new evil persona as Corrupted Lumera. Also, she tricked the people of Elyos, including the royals of several countries, into believing that Alear was her biological child rather than Sombron's. Thus, she committed a crime even before falling under Sombron's control by rewriting the recorded history of Elyos and qualifies for a place on this wiki.
