King Morion, also known as The Conqueror and Corrupted Morion is a supporting character in the 2023 tactical role-playing game Fire Emblem Engage. Morion is the ruler of the Kingdom of Brodia and the father of two of the game's major heroes : Diamant and Alcryst.
Biography[]
Morion is the monarch of Brodia, the Kingdom of Might. He desires to expand his country through conquest and invades the Kingdom Elusia out of fear due to their worship of the Fell Dragon Sombron, the being who nearly caused the destruction of the continent of Elyos during a bloody war.
In spite of his warmongering, Morion tries to be a good father to his sons Diamant and Alcryst and Citrinne (Morion's niece and Alcryst's retainer) looks upon the king in a positive light.
Morion forms an alliance with three other monarchs of Elyos : Lumera (the other draconic god of Elyos and the queen of Lythos), Eve (the queen of Firene) and Seforia (the queen of Solm)
When the Fell Dragon is revived, Lumera tasks her child Alear to gather the Emblem Rings that were necessary to stop Sombron the first time around. Said rings are under the care of the various monarchs of Elyos, with Lumera guarding six rings, both Eve and Seforia having two rings each and Morion and Hyacinth (Elusia's king) having one each.
Hyacinth tries to work with Sombron, but is brainwashed, while Lumera and Eve are attacked by the servants of the Fell Dragon. Lumera is killed and four of her rings are stolen by Sombron's youngest daughter the Fell Princess, but Alear manages to conserve two Emblems and Eve is saved. Eve asks Morion to welcome her children Alfred and Celine, as well as Alear to come to Brodia in order to secure Brodia's ring before the Fell Dragon gets his hands on it.
Morion agrees and sends Alcryst, Citrinne and Lapis (Alcryst's other retainer) to welcome Alear's group. Unfortunately, Hyacinth's daughter Hortensia ambushes Alear and Alcryst's teams and uses one of the stolen rings against them. Thankfully, the heroes are able to defeat Hortensia and learn from her that her elder sister Ivy is going to attack Bordia Castle.
Alear and Alcryst meet with Morion and Diamant at the castle and Morion gives the dragon his country's ring right on time for Ivy's attack, The crown princess of Elusia loses and retreats, but her father challenges Morion to a duel.
Morion accepts, fights Hyacinth on the battlefield and wins, but the king of Elusia catches Morion off guard and orders Emblem Lyn (Elusia's Emblem) to shoot at the monarch of Brodia. Hyacinth and Sombron's retainers Marni and Griss capture Morion, while Ivy buys them time by fighting the Divine Dragon Army.
Morion is sacrificed to Sombron to empower the latter and is turned into a corrupted, an undead henchman of the Fell Dragon. The Divine Dragon Army fights Hyacinth, Hortensia and Corrupted Morion and Alear, Diamant and Alcryst put Morion out of his misery. Despite his condition, Morion passes away peacefully.
