Cottage Infected is a minor antagonist in the sequel 28 Weeks Later. She is a woman who was a resident of the small village of Sandford outside London in the United Kingdom and she got Infected by the Rage Virus.

Biography

Backstory

She was a young woman living in Sandford when the Original Outbreak began and hordes of the Infected stampeded through the nearby woods. Presumably, she tried to flee the place before Infected swarmed her, mauled her, and bit her. She then got Infected within thirty seconds and screamed in anger as the virus overwhelmed her.

Role

When several survivors, including Jacob, Karen, Sally, Geoff, Alice, and Donald Harris are sheltering in Geoff's farmhouse from the Infected, Karen got despondent and soon gave up hope. Jacob tried his best to keep her boosted by telling her that they were the only survivors, however, he was angry with events and said that Karen's boyfriend, Sam, who had fled a few days earlier, was now most likely an Infected and would seek out her throat to Infect her. Upset and angry, Karen went over to the window.

However, a young refugee boy had fled Sandford, alive and unInfected, and he rushed into the house, starving. After eating some lunch he confessed "loads" of Infected were after him, including his parents.

Karen foolishly pulled aside the blinds to the windows and saw an empty landscape. She wondered where Sam was, but soon the Infected woman attacked: She smashed through the barricaded window, showing her formidable strength, and she bit Karen on the arm, Infecting her. Karen then turned on Jacob and tried to maul him, but Donald quickly smashed her head in to save Jacob.

The Infected woman then gave chase with her fellow Infected to swarm on Donald. However, he bravely outran them.

Fate

The Infected woman most likely died of starvation with the other Infected; she may, however, have been killed by soldiers defending London. But she most likely died of starvation, given that Infected can show no signs of major limb loss.

Personality

Little is known of the woman's personality or nature before Infection, but as an Infected she was merciless, cruel, and savage, taking pleasure in Infecting Karen and tearing her arms open. She also was most likely angry with her condition and sought others' suffering. The woman was also extremely fast, typical of an Infected, full of energy, and sported glaring red eyes which symbolized her hatred of others.
