He was the Empire's greatest, infamous high inquisitor with enormous influence. Crowley later became one of the claimants to the throne of the Empire, who was possessed and helped the forces of the demons and Bethrezen.
Biography[]
Count Flamel Crowley was the other extremely influential man in the Empire alongside Hubert de Lalye. A very obsessed and energetic religion leader who the other inquisitors feared. After the First Great War, he led a brutal inquisition aimed at tracing and destroying demons and their helpers. After the inquisition is over, Uther shows up himself, and among many other people, also charmed Crowley. Crowley became so insane and superstitious that he saw demons as angels. He was not alone that several people were successfully tempted by demons. After the death of Emperor Demosthene and Uther, Crowley claimed the throne himself and his goal was to unite the Empire and spread the faith of the High Father everywhere.
Crowley used cruel terror in the territories he ruled and another inquisition began, this time against the people. He brutally taxed the population, the people in the areas he ruled became terribly impoverished. His soldiers and followers kept evangelize, anyone who resisted them was imprisoned, killed, tortured. He had many castles, his army consisted of well-trained veterans, religious fanatics and inquisitors. "Allied" with the demons, Crowley had already posed too great a threat to the world of Nevendaar. Crowley's activities further tarnished the empire's reputation. He tortured dwarves in witch trials and charmed dragons that went wild and attacked anyone or anything. In some temples, the demons themselves mutilated "unbelievers." Although more and more people hated him, they had no chance against his armies. Although they suffered defeats against Mortis' armies, who marched against Gallean and the elves, Crowley's power was still too great to crush any rebellion. However, the other two claimants to the throne of the empire, Emry of Abrissel and Lady Ambrielle, teamed up. Emry's knights and white mages continually defeated Crowley's forces. However, they also did not want to believe what kind of reign of terror Crowley had introduced in the areas where he ruled. The peasants lived in terrible conditions and Crowley built shrines out of their taxes. Anyone who resisted them was called a heretic and taken to punish or kill. Many knights were also imprisoned, old holy and peaceful places were desecrated or demolished. There was fire and ash in the area of Melasem, the capital of Crowley. It was already the territory of the demons and he was in his fortress with the remaining soldiers and fanatics. These were very strong and experienced veterans. After a long, cruel, and bloody siege, the fanatics fell, and Crowley was wounded. Before his death, the demons revealed their identities to him, and he realized in horror what he had actually done.
Personality[]
Crowley was an extremely fanatical, terribly religious man. He was intolerant against anyone who did not follow the High Father. His mind was so sick of his fanaticism that the other inquisitors were afraid of him as well. Crowley punished even the slightest resistance with guillotine, pillory, or prison.
Crowley was also a very fearful person in Nevendaar. People and other creatures dreaded him too, because wherever he or his troops went, they wanted to convert the inhabitants of the area to their faith at all costs. However, to anyone who supported him and his case, he gave him any support.
Powers and Abilities[]
Count Flamel Crowley was perhaps the greatest and most powerful high inquisitor of the empire. His weapon was a special, long mace capable of poisoning his opponents. He tolerated the pain well, average weapons barely injuring him. Crowley was also immune to mind based spells and resistant to fire spells. Perhaps his greatest weapon was his influence and terror. Mane people followed him and many of his followers were well-trained, veteran soldiers.
