“ | Well. We don't often receive visitors. I am Ymir. Welcome, to Manus Metyr. It is a pleasure to have you. In lands so forsaken as these, chance encounters are precious indeed. Seeing that we have convened here on this day, allow me to mark the occasion with a modest offering. | „ |
~ Count Ymir's introduction. |
Count Ymir, The Mother of Fingers or High Priest Ymir is a minor character in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. He is the High Priest of Manus Metyr, who once served as the mentor to Rennala and Rellana, before desiring to become the mother of all finger beings. Being a practitioner in glintstone sorcery, he provides the Tarnished a variety of collective spells to for them to choose from.
He is voiced by Matthew Gravelle.
Appearance[]
He appears to be a standard priest wearing some type of high robe and a golden collar, he has sunken eyes and pope hat. If the Tarnished completes his questline and he appears again as a hostile NPC boss, his robe will change its appearance of which it will consist of an outer layer coat where it appears that many fingers are emerging from the center.
Personality[]
Ymir is a mysterious individual that possesses a vast amount of knowledge regarding the cosmos. Much like his pupils, he once believed in the moons and the power they with held, but once he discovered that they were nothing more than celestial bodies, he turned his attention to studying the Fingers and the Greater Will. From that point on, he became fascinated with the discovery of Metyr and found himself desiring to take her place as the Mother.
Upon meeting the Tarnished, he presents himself in a gentle and humble manner to them, offering to provide them any knowledge and resources they would like to receive. As he interacts more with the Tarnished, he sees their true value in helping him achieve his goal in claiming Metyr's power for himself. Part of this is in hopes that he could utilize her power in bringing back his son, Yuri, from the dead.
Trivia[]
- It's ambiguous what Ymir's relationship to the Fingercrawler he calls Yuri really is. While there is a grave for Yuri, the creature is shown to be alive and well.
