“ | There will, of course, be an inquiry into how the Scroll of Memory was stolen in the first place, and what is to be done now that the Jade Emperor has been dethroned. The universe is perilously close to tipping into chaos. If it comes to light that any of this party were involved, you can believe the consequences will be dire, but only a fraction of the price compared to what will come to pass, should you succeed. | „ |

They are a council of deities who hold dominion over the Underworld, not only governing the realm but also serve as impartial judges, ensuring that those who have committed crimes are duly punished for their transgressions.
They are voiced by Patrick Seitz, Sean Schemmel, Stephanie Sheh, Johnny Yong Bosch, and Alejandro Saab.
History[]
The Court of the Underworld banded together in a sacred council, assumed their roles as the authoritative rulers of the shadowy realm. Through mysterious circumstances, the Nine-Headed Demon ascended to the ranks of the court, ultimately assuming the title of the Tenth King. However, the members of the court remained oblivious to the true nature of the Nine-Headed Demon, who hailed from the Chaos Beyond. Ensuring that all deceased souls faced consequences for their transgressions, an aspect of their governance was the usage of the Scroll of Memory, an artifact crafted to document every occurrence that had ever taken place. This scroll, intended to confine malevolent souls by compelling them to endlessly reexperience their misdeeds, was enveloped in the Protective Curse cast by the kings themselves. This curse not only prevented any attempts at escape by the victims held within but also ensnared any would-be liberators.
The Nine-Headed Demon began his plan to unleash calamity upon the universe itself to embrace chaos. In pursuit of this nefarious objective, the Nine-Headed Demon freed Azure Lion from the Underworld, who, following a banishment decree issued by Monkey King, harbored aspirations of overthrowing the Jade Emperor and improve reality. However, the naive Azure Lion, woefully underestimating the complexities of harnessing the Jade Emperor's power, would inadvertently threatened the fabric of existence. Seizing the opportunity to exploit these circumstances, the Nine-Headed Demon purloined the Scroll of Memory and delivered it to Azure Lion, igniting a sequence of events that destabilized the curse on the scroll, resulting in the entrapment of the Monkey King and the Monkie Kids within its confines. MK liberated his friends and shattering the curse that bound them. Nevertheless, Azure Lion freed Peng and Yellowtusk from their torment within the scroll, manipulating its powers to strengthen the Brotherhood's assault on the Celestial Realm and orchestrate the downfall of the Jade Emperor, paving the way for his own ascension. But Azure's struggle to wield the Jade Emperor's power pushed the universe to the brink of annihilation, prompting a revelation that he had been unwittingly manipulated by one of the Ten Kings.
However, the impending disaster was averted temporarily when Azure Lion sacrificed himself to restore balance to the universe, while Ne Zha stepped in to seal the Jade Emperor's power. Nonetheless, uncertainty lingered as to the permanence of the seal, while Ne Zha decided to liberate all captives once imprisoned by Azure Lion and return the Scroll of Memory to the Court of the Underworld, all while harboring hopes that the scroll would not fall prey to nefarious forces such as the Brotherhood. With the identity of the traitorous king still shrouded in mystery, the Court of the Underworld convened, with the First King calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the theft of the Scroll of Memory and the resulting upheaval following the Jade Emperor's deposition. Expressing profound concern for the balance of the universe, now teetering on the precipice of chaos, the First King issued a stern warning to any traitor lurking within their ranks, cautioning them of dire repercussions should their involvement in these calamities come to light. Nevertheless, the First King acknowledged that the price of inaction would pale in comparison to the universe's end should the traitorous scheme come to fruition.
Season 5[]
With the universe teetering on the edge of annihilation, the Court of the Underworld called upon MK, the Monkey King, and Macaque to stand before them. These three had been linked to every chaotic event since the beginning, making their presence at the court a significant one. Monkey King, with a hint of arrogance, couldn't help but reminisce about the last time he was sent to the Underworld, when he erased his name from the Book of the Dead, a move that had backfired spectacularly for the court. The court accused him of pilfering the Scroll of Memory, drawing parallels to his previous misdeed. The court laid out the consequences of their actions, revealing how they had inadvertently caused the Jade Emperor's downfall and damaged the Pillar of Heaven, which now posed a grave threat to the universe's stability. As MK brainstormed an escape plan, the court revealed they were one step ahead, summoning Li Jing, the new Celestial Host, to ensure their escape attempt would be thwarted.
During their quest to locate the Color Stones and restore the Pillar of Heaven, the Monkie Kids and the Monkey King came face-to-face with the Court of the Underworld. Unbeknownst to them, MK was the prophesied Harbinger of Chaos, and the Court urged them to abandon their mission. Masquerading as the Tenth King, the Nine-Headed Demon stepped forward to reveal MK's true nature. The First King argued that the Harbinger of Chaos was not meant to awaken for another eon, coinciding with the end of the Great Cycle. However, the Nine-Headed Demon scoffed at this notion, asserting that the Great Cycle was nearing its conclusion and exposing his real identity as a demon. As the Court of the Underworld came to the realization that the Tenth King was the Nine-Headed Demon, he used Chaos, wiping out the court, relishing in their naivety and reveling in their demise.
