~ Cousin Kevin

Cousin Kevin is a villain in The Who's musical Tommy, and the title character of the song "Cousin Kevin".

Cousin Kevin is played by Paul Nichols in the film. In the musical, he is a baritone. In The Who's 1989 live performance of the Tommy album, Cousin Kevin was portrayed by Billy Idol.

Biography[]

He is the cruel, mean-spirited teenage cousin of the title character, whom Tommy's parents hire to baby-sit. Once they are alone, Kevin bullies and tortures Tommy for his own sadistic amusement.

His appearance begins and ends with him playing on the piano and smiling, charming Tommy's mother and stepfather. He shows his true colors after they leave; he subjects Tommy to a number of cruel tortures, confident that the "blind, deaf and dumb" Tommy cannot fight back or tell anyone. The abuses he inflicts upon Tommy include locking him outside in the cold, holding his head underwater, sticking him with pins, and putting pieces of glass in his dinner.

When Tommy's parents return, Kevin is once again all smiles and charm, and no one is the wiser as to what he has done.
