Coverton is the main antagonist in the Nickelodeon animated show Monsters Vs. Aliens. He is an eccentric alien who came to Earth and became its official Alien Ambassador after befriending the President. In all actuality, he was sent by a mysterious alien leader known as "Coverlord" to take over the planet.
He was voiced by Jeff Benett.
Appearance[]
Coverton appears to be a stubby gray alien with a large, curved head that has a few strands of hair at the top. He has four fingers on each hand and a pair of two large toes. He wears a fancy read coat and a pair of long black pants. He floats on a chair with robotic prosthetics.
Personality[]
Coverton is a maniacal and self-absorbed. He often underestimates the monster's abilities, which inevitably leads to his undoing. Coverton tries in vein to portray himself as a peaceful ambassador on behalf of his kind, while in reality is is plotting to betray the humans and monsters that took him in. He is often seen manipulating everyone around him in order to achieve his personal goals, aliens and humans alike. This will often include purposefully spreading misinformation and trickery. Besides being evil, Coverton has shown himself to be a coward, often running away in fear whenever he senses trouble.
History[]
Coverton came to planet Earth in the first episode of the series, attempting to steal Susan's powers. His plans ultimately backfire, and after giving the President a tour of his ship, it is destroyed. Since then, Coverton had become the President's official "Alian Ambassador," and took up residence in Area Fifty-Something.
Throughout the series, Coverton speaks to a green gassy-entity known as "Coverlord," updating him on his plans to overthrow the human race and to defeat the monsters. In the end, Coverton is always thwarted in his evil schemes. Asides from his plans of world domination, he is also often seen trying to prove the superiority of aliens to humans by teaming up with the other aliens in Area Fifty-Something. While he claims to be their friends, in actuality, he is using them to accomplish his maniacal plot.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Telekinesis - Coverton is telekinetic. By using his mind, which vibrates whenever he uses this ability, he is able to move objects. When Coverton uses this ability, the objects that he moves have a purple glow around them.
- Alien Technology - Coverton has access to all sorts of advanced alien technology. This includes his hover chair, and various other unnamed gadgets which he used to try and achieve his evil plot.
Weaknesses[]
Coverton has several weaknesses, which include Earth's gravity, and devices that cut off his telekinetic abilities.
Trivia[]
- Coverton uses a hover chair because he is physically unable to handle the Earth's gravity.
- In his first appearance, Coverton apologized for the destruction that Gallaxhar caused.
