~ Prince to Detective John Munch. |
Craig Prince is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Wrong is Right". He is a pedophile who conspired with fellow child molester Andrew Croft to abuse Croft's ward, Michael Goren.
He was portrayed by Gerry Bamman.
Biography[]
Past[]
Prince abused his position as the head of Radio Velocity, a military strategy firm, to hide the criminal past of his friend and fellow pedophile Andrew Croft so he could get a job designing weapons guidance systems for the U.S. military during the first Gulf War. He and Croft also kidnapped a young boy in Belgium, and raped and murdered him; Prince used his clout with the military to have the murder covered up. The feds even launched an investigation into him for suspicious activity.
Years later, Croft took in an orphaned boy named Michael Goren as his ward, and he and Prince began sexually abusing him; Michael later described Prince as an even worse sadist than Croft, inflicting as much pain and humiliation as he could on the boy during his "visits". Croft and Michael moved to Millbrook Township, New York, in which Michael was horrified to discover that Prince lived right down the street from them and the abuse intensified.
"Wrong Is Right"[]
Knowing that Croft and Prince would kill him eventually, Michael finally snapped before he shot and killed Croft, and set his genitals on fire as revenge for years of abuse and left the body on the street, where it was found by cops.
While investigating Croft's murder, Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit find his employment history at Radial Velocity. Prince meets with two other SVU detectives, John Munch and Monique Jeffries, but volunteers little information on Croft, to throw off their investigation. He is later annoyed when they come back with a search warrant for Croft's work records. When Munch and Stabler uncover Croft's history of sex offenses, Prince feigns ignorance, and smugly says that any crime Croft committed is "not our concern", earning Munch's ire.
When Michael is arrested for murdering Croft, he admits to the crime, but refuses to admit that Croft abused him, despite his history being revealed. During Michael's grand jury testimony, however, Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Cabot pokes holes in his story and persuades him to tell the truth by saying that he is safe in police custody. Michael reveals that Croft abused him and admits that he was scared to come clean because there was a second abuser who had connections. He then identifies Prince as his second abuser in return for a reduced sentence, while also telling her of their history in Belgium.
Munch and Stabler arrest Prince in front of his colleagues during a Radial Velocity meeting, exposing him as a child molester and telling them that Michael got a deal for this info. When Stabler takes him into custody, Prince complains that the handcuffs pain him; in response, Munch replies, "Not our concern." He is then hauled away, with everyone looking in shock.
Prince is then imprisoned for the rest of his life.
