Lord and justice of Pharloom's craws. Delivers death to condemned bugs with his steel plated beak.
Did he recognise my part played in this land's void-strung state? If so, perhaps his judgement was not unfair. To these bugs I have brought much destruction.
~ The Hunter's Journal on the Crawfather.

The Crawfather is a minor antagonist in Hollow Knight: Silksong. The judge to the order of the crow-like bugs of Greymour called Craws, he executes those who sinned against his kin. This causes him to summon Hornet to the Court of Craws after he and the other Craws judge her guilty of causing Pharloom's destruction.

Appearance[]

The Crawfather is a rounded figure, his face covered by a large cloak with only a long metallic beak peaking out. He wears a large spiked crown on his head.

Biography[]

The Crawfather can be found in a building located at Craw Lake, to the eastern side of Greymoor. The door is locked and cannot be opened until the Craw Summons tag is obtained, which has a low chance to appear when Hornet rests on a bench following the beginning of Act III.

Once entering the room, the Crawfather appears in the foreground with the Court of Craws, forcing Hornet to fight a gauntlet of Juror variants of Craws, Tallcraws, and Squatcraws. Once five rounds have passed, the Crawfather swoops down to confront Hornet himself.

The Crawfather attacks by slamming his beak onto the ground, or by flying upwards before slamming back down. He may occasionally let out a squawk that summons a Tallcraw Juror, a Squatcraw Juror, or two Craw Jurors. Once he loses enough health, he gains another attack involving him jumping into the air and unleashing chains in six directions, where they erupt spikes before shattering.

Once Hornet slays the Crawfather, the remaining Craws flee the room while a Craw Memento can be obtained for Hornet's Bellhome, absolving her of the Craws' judgement. After the trial, Hornet writes in her Hunter Journal that she suspects the Crawfather was likely aware of her involvement in unleashing the Void and sought revenge for destroying his home.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike other bosses, the Crawfather's corpse does not show up upon revisiting his room, implying that the Craws either moved it or he survived the battle.
  • The Crawfather's Needolin dialogue has him refer to Hornet as a "spinderous spiderling", implying that he is aware of Hornet's half-Weaver ancestry.
