The Creaking Heart, also known as the Creaking, is a major antagonist in Minecraft.

It's an optional block that you can get that has a mind of it's own. It generates inside of a Pale Garden within it's trees. It only activates at night but when it does and senses a player, spawns a Creaking. It'll stalk the play er no matter what and attempt to kill them if they are nearby the heart.

Personality[]

Like most enemies, the Creaking nor the heart speak. Based on it's behavior however, we can make some inferences. The heart is quick to protect itself if anybody comes near it, possibly being paranoid of being killed. It'll send out it's minion which makes a distraction to hopefully lead the player away. The Creaking follows the commands of the heart, having no free will as a result. The heart also makes the Creaking impossible to kill, probably as a defense. The heart has no sense of safety around unknown beings, which causes it to assume the player is a threat. They also did something to the Illagers in the past. Seeing as the Creaking doesn't attack them however, the heart probably doesn't see them as a threat anymore now that they are scared.

Behaviour[]

The heart will create a "Creaking" once it becomes night or there's a thunderstorm. The creaking will be alerted otf a player's presence once the player gets within 12 blocks of it. The Creaking will freeze if a player looks at it, presumably to camouflage. The creaking will attack the player if they're not careful, dealing 3 hearts on normal difficulty.

The Creaking Heart has a limit of how far it's puppet will go, which is 32 blocks. The Creaking will disintegrate otherwise if it gets forced out of the limit. The heart will respawn a new one if this happens.

Due to the Creaking not being alive or undead in the sense of having free will, it can't be killed in the traditional sense. No matter how many hits a player does, or how many times it gets hit by a dangerous block, like lava or cactus, it won't die. The Creaking however will generate a connection to the heart where resin spawns on the tree. Once the Creaking Heart is destroyed, the Creaking will twitch and collapse.

If the player collects a heart, they can place it between two pale oak logs to activate it again.

The only mob that is afraid of it are Illagers. They will flee from a creaking if it gets too close. This will include the "Johnny" Vindicator, which will run at the Creaking before fleeing.
