~ The Creeps explaining their motivation.
The Creeps were a couple of minor villains from the X-Men comics who appeared in a special story concerning child safety, they were only briefly encountered but had sinister motives - the main antagonist of the story would be the X-Man (a human pedophile who pretended to be a superhero to lure in children). They later reappeared in Scream: Curse of Carnage #6, which revealed that they were insane serial killers who abducted children and held them hostage in the basement until they died to compensate for their own children having left.
History
The Creeps are a couple of seemingly well-meaning adults who took to driving around town, offering children and youths free rides - when Jubilee is lost the pair drive up and offer to take her home but the male's behavior tips Jubilee off to something wrong and she declines, instead telling the pair she'll ask a nearby police officer for aid. The presence of this officer prompts the Creeps to quickly drive away.
In their second appearence, the Creeps are confirmed to have extremely sinister motives. They are revealed to lure children, mostly homeless or runaways, into coming home with them before chaining them up in the basement and starving them to death, having claimed at least five victims by the events of the story. Their motivation appears to be to compensate for the loss of their son, who they claim disappeared, although it is implied that they may have killed him. The Creeps are seen abducting a girl named Sandy and imprisoning her in their basement. They are later seen luring a homeless boy known as "Basquait", with Detective Henley chasing after them but failing to stop them. However, Basquait is revealed to be part of a cult led by Demogoblin, who recovers Basquait off-page and murders the Creeps, before hanging their bodies in chains from the walls of his church.
Trivia
The Creeps are introduced to warn child readers the importance of never accepting car rides from strangers, much as the X-Man is introduced to warn children not to trust strangers even if they take a seemingly friendly guise (or are a member of authority).
