Crell Moset is a Cardassian and an antagonist introduced in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Nothing Human".
He was portrayed by David Clennon.
History[]
Moset was an exobiologist who served as the chair of Exobiology of University of Culat. By the mid 24th century he was renowned as one of the foremost exobiologists in the Alpha Quadrant. Appearing to be a polite, charming individual Moset's villainous and ruthless practices were not well known outside Cardassian space.
During the Occupation of Bajor, Moset experimented on many Bajorans. This included infecting thousands of Bajorans with the Fostossa virus in his quest to develop a cure for the virus. At the behest of Gul Dukat, Moset used the Fostossa virus to eliminate Kira Meru. Some of his other experiments included blinding patients to see how they would adapt, or burning patients with polytrinic acid to see how long it would take for their skin to heal. Thousands of people died in his "hospital" by the time the Occupation ended.
While trapped in the Delta Quadrant, the Doctor once consulted a holographic re-creation of Moset in order to save the life of Lieutenant Torres. After learning just how evil Moset was, the Doctor deleted the hologram of Moset along with all of his research.
After The Dominion occupied Betazed during their war with the Federation Moset experimented upon Betazed subjects, hoping to adapt their telepathic abilities for use in the Jem'Hadar. After Betazed was liberated by the Federation, Moset was held as a prisoner of war.
A renegade Changeling trapped in solid form later freed Moset in the hopes the doctor would help him regain his abilities. Through Moset's efforts, this Changeling regained his abilities to change shape, but was limited to changing form to male humanoids of a certain size. Moset also experimented on members of Chakotay's tribe, hoping that their Sky Spirit DNA would help unlock the full potential of the DNA.
Moset was later recaptured by the USS Voyager. Confronted by the joined Trill Jarem Kaz, who as Gradak Kaz had lost his wife to Moset's experiments, Moset was made to realize how evil he would come to be seen by future generations. Kaz refused to kill Moset, feeling it was far worse punishment that the man would have to live with the knowledge of his evil.
