Crimson Fatalis is an Elder Dragon introduced in Monster Hunter G, serving as the game's final boss. Said to have once been the Fatalis that destroyed Schrade, the Crimson Fatalis was defeated by a band of intrepid hunters, forcing it to flee its domain and settle in the Volcanic Belt. Years of hatred stewing and exposure to lava would cause the Fatalis to become the Crimson Fatalis, mutating it into becoming a monster with strength akin to a demon.
Physiology[]
After being exposed to the volcano for centuries, the scales and shells of the Crimson Fatalis have turned reddish-crimson. These red scales cover its undertail, neck, chest, and wing tips, while the majority of its body remains black. Compared to the other four horns, one of them is incredibly enlarged.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Supernatural physical attributes: Just like its original self, the Crimson Fatalis is an unfathomably strong monster, with its mere presence being capable of scaring away other Elder Dragons or similarly powerful monsters. As the Crimson Fatalis is constantly experiencing unimaginable fury, its physical power is much greater than that of a Fatalis's, which is paired well with its exceptionally durable scales that have been tempered by lava.
- Flight: The Crimson Fatalis maintains use of its wings, which it can use to fly with exceptional skill, propelling itself straight up into the air or charging at hunters.
- Inhuman intelligence: The Crimson Fatalis is still as intelligent as its old self, albeit now completely consumed with hate. As such, it frequently uses wide-ranging attacks to try and knock the hunter down as quickly as possible. It still maintains its behaviour of melting pieces of armour (sometimes with accompanying hunters) onto its body for protection, displaying a degree of tool usage and sadism.
- Crimson Demon element: After years of living in inhospitably hot regions of the world, the Crimson Fatalis's Fire and Dragon elemental capabilities have merged into a single element, dubbed the "Crimson Demon". The flames imbued with this element maintain their incredible temperatures but are also infused with the Dragon element, allowing the Crimson Fatalis to essentially utilise both elements in a single attack. This element causes the Crimson Fatalis to burn so hot, its body glows bright red and sets fire to the earth as it walks.
- Summoning: By some unexplainable means, the Crimson Fatalis can utilise both meteors and lava in its attacks to damage the hunter, calling forth lava waves and volleys of asteroid strikes. It's unknown how this is even possible, but the Crimson Fatalis seems to perform certain gestures to summon meteors from space down onto its victims.
- Supernatural regeneration: The Crimson Fatalis maintains the incredible regeneration of its younger self, being capable of constantly healing from the burning lava surrounding it, with this regenerative power rendering it nigh-impermeable to most weapons. The flavour text for its weapons seem to suggest that it remains sentient even as gear, constantly lusting for violence and war. This incredible growth capability might explain its rapid growth rate, as a baby Fatalis that was discovered was found to have grown into an adult by the time hunters came to check in, though as said text comes from a joke questline, it may not be canon.
Personality[]
Already an incredibly hateful and misanthropic monster, the Crimson Fatalis has allowed its anger towards humans to simmer for years after its first defeat at the hands of hunters, causing it to emerge as an incredibly violent and aggressive monster, far more so than its counterparts. It possesses an unfathomable rage towards all life, annihilating anything it sees without a second thought, with legends describing it scorching the earth in its fury. Furthermore, the Crimson Fatalis maintains its sadistic streak, licking its lips in eagerness upon seeing the hunter. As such, it remains one of the most dangerous monsters to walk the planet, both towards humanity and nature alike.
Habitat[]
The Crimson Fatalis lives along the Volcanic Belt, where it resides in magma flows deep in the earth. It appears to be at peace with its surroundings there, implying that this could be its natural habitat.
