~ Cris Formage |
Cris Formage is a fictional character of the Grand Theft Auto series who is first heard in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV, then physically appeared as a minor antagonist in Grand Theft Auto V and has a cameo character in Grand Theft Auto: Online.
He is an influential, greedy, power hungry con-artist.
He is voiced by Fred Melamed, who also voiced the Spirit of the Harvest Moon in Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Uncle Gumbald in Adventure Time.
Background[]
Cris Formage is the supreme leader of the Epsilon Program, a cult based in the Grand Canaria, Cayman Islands. In 1992, he is interviewed by Lazlow on the West Coast Talk Radio show Entertaining America. On the show he denies that the Epsilon Program is a cult, describing it as a fellowship of like-minded adults who tithe money in exchange for salvation and merit badges. He also claims to have formed out of two eggs laid by twins on the day of the interview. He also has a rivalry with Darius Fontaine, calling him the Devil. At the end of the interview, Lazlow describes Formage as an "alcoholic turned self-deifying cultist".
Cris gets a much bigger role then he did in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. After protagonist Michael De Santa takes an online quiz from the cults website he then begins doing tasks for the cult including stealing multiple sports vehicles, help in finding "alien artifacts", and wearing a baby blue robe for 10 days, after doing the latter, Cris will send a text message to Michael, congratulating him on his actions for the cult. After Michael delivers a plane to Jimmy Boston, Jimmy will mention that he and Cris watch pornography together completely naked, "just to prove we don't get turned on by it" according to Jimmy. Cris can be heard when Michael meets the cult members in the desert, telling Michael that he is almost blessed with enlightenment.
After Michael finishes running 5 miles in the desert, he then arrives at the Epsilon Center where he physically meets Cris Formage himself. He tells Michael to deliver $2.1 million to his helicopter, which will send it to the Cayman Islands. If Michael canonically steals the money for himself, Cris will angrily call him, cursing Michael for his betrayal and threating to destroy his life; Michael brushes off Cris's threats, telling him that he is taking the money as a "refund" and mockingly bidding him goodbye.
