Cristina Warren is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Elijah Kamski) of Quantic Dream's 2018 video game Detroit: Become Human.
She is the secondary antagonist of Markus's story and major antagonist of both Connor and Kara's stories, as well as a temporary playable character in the end of the chapter from the game.
In 2038, she is on her first term as the President of USA and is the one who ordered android genocide because of the wrong-assumed threat they were. Depending on the player choices, she will either make peace with androids and give them equal rights or will declare war on them, as they lose their restraint, or surrender to the Androids and concede the new reality of another intelligent life form.
She was portrayed by Christina Batman.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Cristina Warren was born on September 15, 1985. First known as a celebrity, she presented herself as a candidate to the presidential elections in 2036 and won a very close survey that divided the country. In disagreement with her political party and cabinet, her allies are very surprised she's still at the Oval Office. Her approbation rate is only 33% in 2038.
Under the two first years of her term, CyberLife androids generated huge amount of wealth and improved production beyond anything imagined at the 20th century and even re boosted Detroit's economy, quickly nicknamed "Android City" as a reference to its past as "Motor City". However, these economic measures lead Warren to be hugely criticized as she allowed the unemployment figure to be of 37,3%, as androids would take numerous jobs to humans and 225,000 jobs were lost in October 2038.
Events of Detroit: Become Human[]
In 2038, tensions erupts between the USA and Russia, as the russian president Artem Ivanoff claimed that the North Pole as the property of Federation of Russia and sent the army to occupy the lands. Warren, after the discovery that the North Pole is huge source of Thirium (nicknamed "Blue Blood", as it enters in the androids' fabrication), declared North Pole as the undisputed property of America, calling Ivanoff "a dangerous individual" and Russia's taking over North Pole "a crime against the international community". By then, experts in international relations declared that an armed conflict is inevitable and that society had never been so close of World War III.
In the fourth chapter A New Home, playable by Kara's perspective, the player may learn at television that Warren had given a speech about a new CyberLife plant opening near Milwaukee.
By that time, in Detroit, multiple incidents with androids have occured, and, led by Markus, deviants androids are claiming their rights and equality to humans, in a violent or peaceful path, chose by the players. Whatsoever the approach is, Warren will sent the 32nd Infantry Division along with other national guard units to enter Detrioit and quell the unrest at the request of Governor of Michigan, who declared a state of emergency and asked for federal assistance.
On November 10th at 09:24:05 PM, Warren is helding a press conference at the White House, declaring to reporters that a national curfew was declared at 6 AM this morning. Civilian movements will be strictly controlled, the right to assembly is suspended, all electronic communications are restricted and she had given enhanced powers to the country's security agencies. All civilians owning androids must hand them over to authorities and temporary camps are being set up in all major cities to destroy them. The player can then control Warren and chose which questions to answer, with some differences depending of what manifestation path the players had chosen and the public opinion.
Depending on the player's choices during the game, Cristina will held a live conference at the White House, either making peace with androids and accept new as new living species, declaring war on them as they have lost restraint and are now a national threat, or surrender to the androids and concede the new reality of a new intelligent life form. Besides, if public opinion is supportive, when Markus kisses North or sings when surrounded by U.S. Army soldiers about to shoot them during the final standoff, Warren will tell the military to stand down.
Either way, she concludes the live conference by the famous "God Bless America".
