Crystal Bowie is one of the main antagonists and the most prominent villain of the Space Adventure Cobra franchise. He is an assassin of the Space Pirate Guild sent by Lord Salamander to capture and kill Cobra. Thanks to this, he becomes Cobra's archenemy.
He was voiced by the late Kiyoshi Kobayashi in both anime adaptations, and Gorō Mutsumi in Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie.
Appearance[]
Crystal Bowie is a humanoid cyborg with a golden skeleton, and a body made from indestructible glass. His signature weapon is a claw he can attach to his right hand. It can crush anything, and he also uses it for slitting his victims' throats. The claw has a built-in laser gun, and can be used as a grappling hook, or fired as a projectile.
Personality[]
Crystal Bowie is a sadistic assassin who takes joy in killing people. He likes to capture women and brainwash them into loving him, and then turn them to kill each other. Enforcing Lord Salamander's will, he wants to show that no one should defy the Space Pirate Guild. He also considers Cobra his worthy opponent.
Powers and Abilities[]
His crystal body allows him to redirect any beam weapon he's hit with so that it passes harmlessly through him. Even the Psychogun's. Cobra has gotten around this by making his lasers be reflected inside Crystal Bowie until they cause damage to his body or overheat him. Cobra eventually manages to defeat him with a rocket punch.
Despite his robotic body, Crystal Bowie can still enjoy good food and fine wine, which are the only things he has left from when he was still human.
Trivia[]
- It is likely that he got influence from the Golden Bat, hence being golden and having his archenemy Dr. Nazo's claw.
