The Cult of Diablos are the main antagonists of the comedy, dark fantasy, light novel, manga, and anime series The Eminence in Shadow. They are an ancient hidden criminal organization comprised of an immense number of conspirators who meticulously organize schemes worldwide, only being regarded as a minor legend for the rest of society. Additionally, they conduct abductions and experiments on the descendants of the Heroes to enhance their research capabilities.

Throughout their extensive past, the Cult of Diablos has wielded authority on countries by strategically placing members in influential positions globally, covertly shaping historical narratives and altering perceptions of the Three Heroes saga, renaming the "Curse of Diablos" as Demon Possession.

Since its establishment, the Cult has tirelessly pursued the revival of the demon Diablos to gain more influence, with the user of the Tears of Diablos to grant immortality and strength to its leaders, ensuring their enduring control. The Knights of Rounds are the one who overlay their authority over the organization. After centuries of internal discord, the Cult aimed to focus their efforts on eliminating Shadow Garden, fully cognizant of the formidable obstacle they posed. Consequently, they resolved to reconcile their internal conflicts and consolidate their forces.

Members[]

Children of Diablos[]

The organization targets disadvantaged youth, including orphans or those from modest backgrounds, who exhibit promising magical abilities. Identified individuals are forcibly taken from their homes and brought to designated facilities under the Cult's supervision. Here, they undergo intensive training, subjected to harsh conditioning and the administration of potent drugs aimed at enhancing their combat skills. Unfortunately, the majority do not survive this grueling process, with less than ten percent making it through to "graduate" and join the ranks of the Cult of Diablos. Graduates are then categorized into three tiers: Third, Second, and First.

  • Third Children: The Third Children represent the small fraction of survivors, roughly a small potion, who endure the grueling initiation but are ultimately deemed failures by the Cult. Despite their formidable combat abilities, they are considered worthless by the organization, their minds shattered by the brutal treatments they endured. Rendered incapable of coherent speech and resistant to interrogation, they become disposable tools for the Cult's clandestine operations. Despite their mental state, their combat skills surpass those of ordinary knights, making them valuable assets for the Cult's dark schemes.
  • Second Children: The Second Children possess minds distinguished by their maintained sanity, exhibit considerable physical prowesses, although not on par with the First Children in terms of overall potentials.
  • First Children: The First Children have extensive potential that surpass even those outside the organization, making them as some of the most potent warriors worldide. Their exceptional power sets them apart, with their numbers significantly fewer naturally of their potential unlike the Third and Second Children.

Knights of Rounds[]

The Knights of Rounds, the leadership cadre of the Cult of Diablos, comprises twelve elite members tasked with shaping organizational policies. They are governed by the Round Table Committee, led by the supreme executive head. Securing a Seat among them offers immense influence and prestige, often reserved for Named Children. To maintain their demonic strength and immortality, each member consumes one drop of the Tears of Diablos annually. Competition for seats is fierce, requiring significant contributions and extraordinary achievements. While traditional nomination is common, even non-Named individuals can vie for candidacy, backed by faction leaders or chosen for special missions. Despite the twelve Seats, internal dynamics are complex, with power and influence constantly contested. Members strategically vie for higher ranks, often resorting to manipulation and coercion to secure their positions. The recent decline in quality within the Knights, blamed on complacency and dwindling resources, has fueled factional conflicts and desperation for Diablos' revival. Each Knight of the Round is the leader of a group.
