~ Daisuke describing the cult's mentality to Remina. |
The Cult of Remina are the secondary antagonists of the Junji Ito manga Hellstar Remina. They are a worldwide cult whose sole intent is to sacrifice Remina Oguro, the titular hellstar's namesake, under the belief that Remina and her father were responsible for the hellstar's approaching towards Earth.
History[]
Origins[]
On July 20XX, the astrophysicist Professor Oguro had made the revolutionary discovery of a new planet in the universe. He had decided to name the planet after his daughter, Remina Oguro, which she had not agreed on. As a result of this, Remina receives worldwide fame.
Biography[]
When it was found that the planet is actually a giant alien organism that consumes planets and stars, the entire world's population begins to panic at their imminent death. One man in a large crowd of people, however, points out how coincidental many of the events appear to be, being that Professor Oguro had discovered the planet, declared that it first appeared in the universe on the day her daughter Remina was born, how the planet was previously declared to be able to move wherever it pleases, and how Oguro received a Nobel Prize for the discovery, as well as how Remina had gained stardom from said discovery. This led him to believe that there was a mass conspiracy afoot, which he announces outloud. The remaining people in the group, fearful for their lives, buy into the belief out of desperation for survival alone.
From there, the cult proceeds to enter the establishment that promoted Remina, and killed all of the employees, staff members, and guests that were present at Remina's 16th birthday party, that were present in the building, well on their way to find Remina to kill her. In the mean time, a portion of the population also go to the laboratory that Oguro works at in order to abduct him for a sacrifice.
