	~ The Cyber Masters, The Power of the Doctor.

The CyberMasters are a faction of Cybermen that serve as major antagonists in Series 12 of Doctor Who and the 2022 Special, The Power of The Doctor. This faction was created by and are loyal to The Master, who created them from the bodies of the Time Lords, giving them the ability to regenerate.

History[]

The Timeless Children[]

After the Master formed an alliance with Ashad, and discovered his plan to make the Cybermen fully robotic, he killed him and absorbed the Cyberium. Together, using the knowledge of Cyber history and the Time Lord Matrix, they converted the bodies of the Time Lords in the Capitol into a new breed of Cybermen that had the capability to regenerate. After awakening the Doctor, the Master unveiled a dozen of the CyberMasters to her, gleefully calling them "the perfect army". After demonstrating their capability of regenerating, he told the Doctor this meant they were "born" from her and considered it the dawn of a new era.

Later, the CyberMasters confronted the Doctor when she attempted to set off the Death Particle. The CyberMasters attempted to shoot her on sight, but the Master instead elected to dare her into activating it. When she could not bring herself to activate it, the choice was taken by Ko Sharmus, a veteran of the Cyber-Wars. The CyberMasters managed to shoot him several times, but he set off the Death Particle with his dying breath. The Master ordered his army to follow him immediately before the explosion, and as seen later on, some of the CyberMasters managed to escape.

The Power of the Doctor[]

The CyberMasters resurfaced when they attacked the space-faring Toraji Transport Network bullet train, with their regenerative abilities allowing them to overcome the security forces. However, the Doctor, Yaz and Dan stepped in and managed to get around their defences. While the CyberMaster's attack was thwarted, their General managed to capture their true objective, the train's cargo, namely the Qurunx. The CyberMasters confronted the Doctor and Yaz on the Cyber planet in 1916, with them taunting her that "[her] Master awaits". The CyberMasters aided their Dalek allies and the Master in capturing the Doctor, and allowing him to perform a forced regeneration to replace her with himself (although both the CyberMasters and the Daleks were baffled at his theatrics).

Later, the CyberMasters and the Master confronted Yaz, who openly considered them to be better "companions" than her, and were taken off guard at the apparent appearance of the Fugitive Doctor. While the cyborgs fired at the other Doctor, this turned out to be a ruse, as she was a hologram, and the CyberMasters ended up taking out each other. As their regeneration processes started, Yaz and Vinder siphoned them off to undo the forced regeneration, restoring the Thirteenth Doctor and killing the CyberMasters for good.

Trivia[]

The Master had created their own army of Cybermen before, with Missy's army of the dead in Death in Heaven, and the Saxon Master's Cybermen created as part of Operation Exodus in World Enough and Time.
The Master's main motive for creating the CyberMasters, aside from having his own personal army, seems to be mock the Time Lords legacy, especially as their design is a parody of Time Lord robes.
