Cynthia Caldera, also known as The Lady, is the main antagonist of the 1990 film Lionheart.
She was portrayed by Deborah Rennard.
Biography[]
Cynthia Caldera, who is also known with the nickname The Lady, is an organizer of underground fights for rich people. She has several fighters fight and work for her and many connections throughout the world. One of these fighters was a man named Joshua Eldridge, who was eventually betrayed by her forcing him to organize street fights in corners in order to make a leaving.
One day a French Legion deserter from East Africa named Lyon Gaultier fought and easily won one of these street fights, with only Joshua betting on him and even giving him the nickname Lionheart. He then promised Lyon to help him find more money in order to go to Los Angeles and help his dead brother's family, thating leadingg them to Cynthia who seemed interested in Lyon and agreed to help. At the time, Cynthia had a fighter named Sonny working for her, who after brutally beating another fighter was scheduled to fight Lyon by her. Cynthia secretly bet on Lyon and asked the referee to keep this between them. Lyon easily knocked Sonny down with one punch, thus becoming Cynthia's new fighter and started becoming famous in the underground circle.
However, Lyon didn't want to be Cynthia's toy and didn't respond to her interest in him thus making her angry. He also didn't tell her about him wanting to help his brother's family making her believe that he was interest in his brother's wife and him being a deserter from the French Legion. Eventually, Cynthia became suspicious of both him and Joshua and had his right-hand man Russell to spy on them, and Cynthia deceived Lyon by pretending to care for him while also started to deal with the two French legionnaires that were hunting him behind his back agreeing to turn him over to them. He also arranged Lyon to fight against Attila, a brutal and undefeated fighter who is known for toying with, crippling, and even killing his opponents. She later shows an altered tape to Lyon and some other guests which shows Attila as a poor fighter (in order both to make Lyon overconfident and her guests bet on him), while pretending to believe in Lyon's victory. However, behind Lyon's back, she bet on Attila. She even allowed the two legionnaires to attend the event, to Lyon's surprise and disgust who then realized that he was deceived by Cynthia. The fight started with Lyon seemingly winning initially, but eventually, Attila gained the upper hand and started to pummel Lyon, while Cynthia was watching in joy. At the end, Lyon managed to win, thus ruining Cynthia's career, who later had other problems as she was forced to pay and wasn't allowed to leave.
Personality[]
Cynthia is manipulative, hypocritical, vengeful and evil, deceiving people who work for her and betraying them while pretending to care for them at the same time. Despite Lyon working and making money for her, she betrayed him just because he wouldn't be interested in her and refused to become her toy. Even after knowing Lyon's problems, she still refused to help and would rather see him crippled and his family thrown on the street. She also deceived other people only for her to make more money.
