Cyrus MacDougall is a recurring major antagonist in TV sitcom Trailer Park Boys. He is a greasy criminal and the archenemy to Julian, Ricky, and Bubbles.
He is the main antagonist of the premiere in the first season, a minor antagonist in the second, fourth seasons, the central antagonist in the fifth season, the main antagonist in the eighth season, and one of the two secondary antagonists in the ninth season. He appears as a cameo character in the second installment, Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day and the main antagonist in the third installment, Trailer Park Boys: Don't Legalize It! and a supporting antagonist in the TV special, Trailer Park Boys: Say Goodnight To the Bad Guys. He is also a recurring antagonist in the spin-off series, Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series.
He was portrayed by Bernard Robichaud.
Personality
Cyrus is a rude, abrasive, and a tough-guy wannabe criminal who causes trouble for the boys. He has an anachronistic character archetype, having to be unknowingly being paid by Julian to burn down the motel and shooting at people. But he has shown to be quite idiotic and cowardly, making a big show of waving his gun around but runs away or has someone else to fight his battles.
Biography
Early life
Not much is known about Cyrus' background, his father gave him a Beretta 92, 9 Millimeter handgun when he was in the 7th grade. But it was also hinted that he hated his father.
Trailer Park Boys
At some point, after Julian and Ricky were sent to prison, Cyrus moved in Julian's trailer and took control over the park. During his time, he intimidates the residents and ran his operations outside of the park, up until Julian came back and evicted him out of the park.
In the second season, he tries to cheat his way through his grade 10 exam by reading the answers that were written on the back of Jacob Collins' neck and arms. However, trying to avoid being caught smoking and losing a chance of completing his exam, Ricky rats out Cyrus to the teacher, rejecting him and Jacob from the classroom. Cyrus returns to the park and starts a shootout with the Boys for failing his grade 10 and losing Lucy. Cyrus and Sam Losco are arrested by the cops.
In the fourth season, he is providing masseurs for Julian's Rub 'N' Tug. He shows up to the bar and demands his cut of the operation. But he is ejected and kicked out from the park by Randy this time.
In the fifth season, he partners up with Ricky's friends, Terry and Dennis in selling hash. Julian, Cory, and Trevor go to Terry and Dennis's place and steals their entire stockpile of hash. Once Cyrus found out, he and Terry, and Dennis head to the trailer park and started a massive shootout with the Boys. They are then arrested due to their incompetence and bad luck. Later, they are bailed out of jail by Lahey and Randy, in an attempt to get even by having Cyrus killing Ricky and Julian. However, they are yet again arrested and sent to jail again.
In the eighth season, Cyrus teams up with Sam Losco in attempting to try to buy out of the trailer park, but fails.
In the ninth season, after Julian buys Tommy's motel out from under him, he became vengeful and partners up with Cyrus. While following the Boys, they discover that they planned to sell everything inside in the auction. On the auction day, both Cyrus and Tommy show up and caused chaos with guns and fighting, wanting their "shit" back, even though there are tenants saying that it is theirs. Cyrus is humiliated by the Boys when they stumbled upon his porn stash in one of the units and pushed out.
Near the end of the season, Julian sets up a deal with his lawyer for an insurance fraud scheme that would get Cyrus and Tommy involved in arson by burning down the motel after it was destroyed by a flood that was caused by Ricky. While Julian and Bubbles videotape Cyrus and Tommy burning down the motel, Ricky shows up and started a gunfire with them. The Channel 5 news reporter Steve Rogers appears in a helicopter and captures the gunfight and fire, which caused Cyrus and Tommy to flee. They are later arrested for arson.
