Cyrus Redblock is the main antagonist of the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Big Goodbye".
He was portrayed by the late Lawrence Tierney, who also played the Regent of Palamar in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Joe Cabot in Reservoir Dogs.
Cyrus Redblock was a fictional character in the novel "The Big Goodbye", who was created as a hologram aboard the Enterprise's holodeck. He was a gangster who had employed the private detective Dixon Hill to seek out an unspecified item, and also murdered Jessica Bradley. Picard took on the role of Dixon Hill in the programme, initially innocently. However, a malfunction resulted in Picard, Data and Crusher becoming trapped on the holodeck with the safety protocols off and Enterprise historian Whalen being shot and wounded.
Redblock confronted Picard's party in Dixon Hill's office, together with his henchman Felix Leech. He demanded the item which he believed Picard had, threatening to kill his friends otherwise. In order to stall for time, Picard and Data told Redblock the truth: That he and everyone around them were fictional characters, and that they had come from another world full of riches.
Redblock initially disbelieved the claims and ordered Leech to kill Crusher, but was thrown when repair work by the Enterprise crew first changed their location into a blizzard and then opened the door to the ship. Wanting to take control of this new world, Redblock led Leech off the holodeck. However, once outside of it, they quickly faded away, ceasing to exist.
