Cyrus Vanch is a secondary antagonist in Season 1 of the CW television series Arrow.
Cyrus Vanch is a ruthless and wealthy businessman who escapes from prison in "Arrow." He takes over the city's criminal underworld using his connections and resources. Arrow infiltrates his organization and with the help of Detective Quentin Lance and his team, brings him down and ensures he remains in prison. Although Vanch makes a brief appearance in season two, he is ultimately depicted as a manipulative criminal who is no match for the combined efforts of Arrow and the police.
He was portrayed by David Anders who played Blaine Debeers in Izombie and John Gilbert in The Vampire Diaries.

Early Life[]
Cyrus Vanch is a career criminal who has been involved in several illegal activities including drug running, racketeering, human trafficking, and murder, with connections to at least 52 homicides. His name ends up on The List, and he is prosecuted by CNRI, leading to a sentence of three consecutive life sentences in Iron Heights prison. However, after just eight months, Vanch is released due to a lack of evidence.
Season 1[]
After being released from prison, Cyrus Vanch kills his lawyer George Wolfman and takes over his mansion with his girlfriend Vivian. He plans to impress various criminal organizations to claim his piece of the underworld. The Hood, overhearing their conversation, tries to intervene but fails. Vanch and Vivian learn about The Hood's connection to Laurel Lance, one of the attorneys who prosecuted Vanch, and kidnap her to use as bait. They threaten to kill her unless The Hood meets them at sunrise. The Hood arrives but is captured as he has no arrows left. However, Detective Quentin Lance arrives and helps him take down Vanch and his men. Vanch is sent back to prison to serve his full sentence.
