The D’Amico crime family was a mafia crime syndicate in New York City who serve as the main antagonists in the 2010 film Kick-Ass and the overarching antagonists in its 2012 sequel, Kick-Ass 2.
History[]
Led by Frank D’Amico, they had a large stake in the drug trade, especially in Cocaine. And they had a large number of the police under their payroll, such as Detective Vic Gigante.
Though they were a largely Italian crime family, they seemed to welcome men of other ethnicities, such as Stu and Javier. In 2010, the family came under attack by a father-daughter vigilante duo known as "Big Daddy and Hit-Girl”, who were stealing their coke and money, as well as killing their men and associates. Frank believed it was the new superhero in the news "Kick-Ass”. As a result, he ordered his men to find kick-ass and kill him. Big Joe sent out half of their men to pull pretty crimes as bait. Frank became so consumed by this that he started snorting cocaine more, and he killed a man dressed up as Kick-Ass, and even killed an innocent bystander whom witnessed it.
Frank’s son Chris goes undercover as a superhero called "red mist" in order to gain kick-ass’s trust, and lure him into a trap. Frank agrees, and gives up one of his capos Tony Romita to the police as a way to get red mist noticed on the news. The plan goes well, and Chris drives kick-ass to Frank’s lumber warehouse, where some of his men are waiting for them. However big daddy had gotten there first, and killed all the man, before burning the warehouse to the ground. Unbeknownst to big daddy, Chris had left a secret camera in the warehouse, and retrieved it before it was destroyed. Frank watched it and sent it over to Gigante, who had his officers be on the lookout for big daddy.
Chris led Frank’s men to Big Daddy and Hit-girl’s safe house when going there with Kick-ass, and both kick-ass and big daddy were dragged away by Frank’s men. They were then taken to a warehouse, where they live-streamed them torturing both of them, however Hit-Girl came and killed all the men there, including Joe. However, big daddy was killed after being set on fire. Both Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass then broke into D’Amico’s penthouse building, and killed both Frank, and a large number of his men.
Frank’s brother Ralph then took over the family while in prison, and gave orders for everyone to lay low. However, Chris, along with his bodyguard Javier, formed his own crew of supervillains, which consisted of some former associates of the family, to get revenge on kick-ass and hit-girl. Though this would fail, and he would be left disabled after a shark attack.
