D3-COY is a minor antagonist in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, appearing in the webcomic Sonic Frontiers Prologue: Convergence. It's a robot that serves as a body double for Dr. Eggman and once fought Sonic, Tails and Amy to distract them from Eggman's real plan.
Appearance[]
At first glance, D3-COY is virtually indistinguishable from the real Eggman, but its robotic nature is still evident due to its crude design.
Biography[]
Sent by Dr. Eggman, Orbot and Cubot to distract their enemies, D3-COY and a batch of Crabmeats located Amy Rose on an island and attacked her. Sonic and Tails, who had been asked by Amy to meet her on the island, witnessed the battle and jumped in to aid Amy. The three heroes broke down D3-COY's crab mech, leaving it vulnerable to an attack by Sonic. That's when Sonic realized that they weren't fighting the real Eggman, but only his decoy. Tails and Amy deduced that Eggman was trying to distract them from Starfall Islands, and that he was plotting something there. D3-COY was subsequently destroyed by them, and Orbot and Cubot reported about its defeat, though Sage noted that they only did so after a significant delay.
Personality[]
Despite convincingly imitating Dr. Eggman's behaviour, D3-COY lacks any personal traits of its own due to being programmed to pose as its organic template.
Trivia[]
- D3-COY recites many of Dr. Eggman's lines from past games' boss fights, including Sonic Adventure.
